For you Krashers: what does the Sig-O say?

For those of you that have crashed: what is your significant other/spouse saying about that? I've not crashed yet (seems inevitable) and I'm not sure that my (perceived) dangerous and expensive hobby would be tolerated if that happened, even if in a minor way. There isn't a history of motorcycle riding anywhere in my family, so my wife doesn't really have an appreciation for that being part of the package. It would be nice if she'd say "don't let a little setback stop you from what you enjoy - get back on there and kick some butt!" However, it's more likely she'd say "okay, you've had your fun. Sell that darn thing and stop being so stupid." Curious what your experiences have been, especially in families where riding doesn't seem like second nature to all parties.

Yeah, that's kind of what happened to me. I dumped a (large and heavy) Suzuki Intruder going 70 km/hr and the wife said NO MORE STREET BIKES. I was fine other than sore for a while (I had full riding gear on). The bike was a write off.
So, I bought a Yamaha TW-200 and enjoyed that for 2 years. Then I convinced my wife I should get a 2008 FZ-6. The agreement was I had to come up with a plan that would make her comfortable. My plan was something like this:
1) I would only go on long "tours" with other riders (better visibility)
2) I have enrolled in an advance driving course (even though I've been riding for over 15 years, but what the hell?)
3) I will always wear proper gear (no riding in shirts or shorts EVER).
4) I will not drive like an idiot.

Pretty easy to comply with, I can't really argue with that.

I'm with Bill. When/if it happens just put your foot down. Some battles are worth fighting. (but remember that some aren't as well)

I'm in the same boat as you cv_rider, been riding for years and never dropped a road bike. If it ever happens, I'm expecting SWMBO to want me to get rid of it and never get another one. He He, she also said "if that first speeding ticket comes in - you'll be selling that bloody thing"...lol

I'm really fortunate, in that wifey encourages my being on a bike.

What can say however, is that when i crash, if it happens to be my fault i will be in VERY deep trouble.

The message is simple ... don't crash!!

I rode long before I met my wife,she was scared to death of bikes at first then she got her permit and loved it ,she had two bikes before we had the kids,she said to me that I might as well keep riding coz if I dont it will just cause arguments,knows me well she does , lol

I am very fortunate to have a wife that rides her own bike as well, If either one of us were to crash we have enough respect for each other to let us make our own choices. We agree that we won't do anything too stupid and wear appropriate gear.

That being said the only time that either of us have gone down it has been below 5 MPH and we both went down at the same time. (Middle of a gravel covered intersection at 3am with nobody around, and we both just looked at each other, looked at both bikes on the ground and just laughed at the situation, we were both to tired after 17 hours of riding to do anything else) But if it was a crash due to stupidity then we might have a discussion about it.
