yep, off my speedometer, it read 158 mph on the highway pavement (rt. 80) in nevada going into utah, but got it up to 156 mph on the salt. how accurate is that? dunno. but it sure as sh*t felt like 156 mph.
laws?! ha, surely you jest, ain't no laws out on the salt flats.
it's called Bonneville International Speedway. you gotta drive about a mile or so out to get to the real flat areas. it feels like concrete with a thick dust layer. let's put it this way, when burning out the bike and truck, it left rubber in the tracks. there's two 10-mile long tracks, about as wide as a football field or so that go straight, and you can really haul it out there. it's a good fast surface, some bumps, but nothing major, almost like a readlly flat, hard packed dirt road, never seen anything like it.
we went around 7 pm or so, the sun was going down, and NO ONE was out there. f'n awesome. i couldnt believe it was so open, we just literally went down this mile road out, and then another 3 miles over, and it ends at a cul-de-sack with a sign that basically reads, in so many more words than one: "welcome to the most epic day of your life"
it's just awesome out there, if you have a chance, go for it.
