The Village Idiot
Heya, folks! Some of you may be out of the loop on my even more recent bike purchase; the CBR600F4i that I'd owned previously was a lemon, so I sold it at a loss and purchased a 2009 Triumph Daytona 675. It's been a lovely bike, with tons of character and absolute smoothness. Uniquely, the ECU measures how quickly you snap the throttle and lets the gas on accordingly, meaning that if you slowly crack it - there's very little lurch. If you ever get a chance to try this, or the Street Triple, you shouldn't miss out. Might even have to buy another bike, because this one feels like a 250 when you sit on it, but has tons of midrange grunt that carries through right up to the 14K redline (or up to 16, if you decide to overrev it). I've been riding it about two months, and had bought the bike with the intention of taking it to the track - so I made sure that I wouldn't miss out, and signed up for a novice lap day.
My beautiful track outfit and helmet - half kijiji, half personal choice.
We didn't even make it through a single lap before a guy wrecked on this absolutely gorgeous bike, breaking his arm and being out for the day.
Here's a video of a particularly good run of mine, including some POV footage leading up to the eventual pass. Use HQ! I'm a long way from being a track master, as my photos below will show (need to work on body positioning), but it was an amazing experience for only $145!

My friendly paddock neighbours!
Excuse the poor quality - there was no other place to take photos, and my phone was the best I had to lend. My positioning was a bit off when these were taken, towards the beginning of the day, but I could definitely feel the improvement as I tried to kiss my mirror - and went from getting passed in bends by a CBR250, to passing and never seeing him again by midday!

Tire was thoroughly fried, and I'd in quite a few instances almost managed to touch my knee:
And finally, the beaut' after things were said and done! Had some awesome help from experienced track guys, offering up tools and advice consistently.
Hope you all enjoyed me sharing!
