Hi guys,

I've searched but can't find an answer. Does anyone know if an 09 fz6 engine will fit in an 06 fz6? Not an r6 engine. Mine has 66k on it and needs some work. I can get one for 500, just need to know if it will fit before I buy it.

I know the 2009 model has about 30 HP LESS than the 04-08 models....

I looked at the parts fisch for the 2009 model and most of the engine components, just looking, appear to look the same.

Someone else will have to chime in. I think your the first to try an 09 engine in an older bike..

Re-checking the parts fisch, my boo... The "R" model did start in 2010 with less HP...

Guess that's why the '09 parts fisch looked the same...

For the OP, their was a change in the header and some other small parts. To my knowledge it should bolt up...

Yes, the oil pan is different to accommodate the Pre-CATs in the header. What I know is an early header will not fit a late model pan. You have to swap the pan.

Now depending on if you get or swap the wire harness, the ECU is different. Keep your old wire harness.
