Does Anybody know if the R6 fuel pump will fit?

Does Anybody know if the R6 fuel pump will fit? The one I am looking at is off an 05 R6 and I have an 05 Fz6 s. LEt me know if anyone knows! It looks very similar. Thanks!

The best way to find out, is to look up both bikes on the same vendor's site, and compare part numbers.

Motorcycle Parts, Motorcycle Accessories ? BikeBandit.com would be a good one to start with. select the bike you own, and find the fuel pump pn..... then look up the year and model of the donor bike from eBay, and check the number.

Usually , the first three digits are model specific, and don't have a lot to do with the actual part number. XXX-12345 and YYY-12345 are very likely the same part.

XXX-12345-00-01 and YYY-12345-01-01 WOULD NOT be the same.

RJ, 999 times out of 1000 I take your opinion as the gospel truth, because it usually is, and I'm not saying you're wrong, but last week I overheard two techs at a BMW dealership complaining to each other about the exact same oil filter in two different colors having different serial numbers. Maybe that's just BMW, maybe it's just oil filters. FWIW, I don't know any different--I just overheard a conversation...

No worries..... it's all up to each company as to how they go about breaking down their part numbers. Where they put the change to indicate color is up to them, same as whether it's form/fit/function compatible

Most of the systems I have seen from Japanese companies follow a similar format:

Model-basic part number-revision-minor revision

The reason I suggest using the same source for both PN's, has to do with some of them creating entirely different numbers than Yamaha has already created, for the parts they buy from some vendor, who had their own part number scheme...... Lots of chances for alphabet soup out there.

5PW-13907-01-00

is the fuel pump for r6

5VX-13907-01-00

Is the fuel pump for fz6. I think I'm gonna go for it.

Cool, thanks. It really does look almost exactly the same except for the fuel level weight, which the r6 doesn't have, I think, because I don't think r6 has a full fuel gauge....

It worked!! I accidentally got the wrong model . . . Try to get the one that has the similar part number, which I believe is from an 05 r6, I got one from an 06 r6s, but it still slid in and worked fine. Only problem is fuel gauge flashes, because there is no level reader, but if you can live with that you are good to go. Bike started right up!

Dont think so. There is a whole separate electircal sensor with a weighted level bar. The r6 pump just has a sensor to tell you when the fuel is low. If you want the right pump, get the right pump, if you can live with it, get the r6 pump. Mine cost my 25 bucks on ebay!

You can swap the fuel info sending units. I just did it about 15 minutes ago. The sending unit electronics kind of hang off the side and plug into a connector that passes through the pump. I installed a used pump from a 2008 R6-S on my 2006 FZ-6.

I didnt read above at all.

What I know:
Swap the pressure regulator, they are not the same (R6 is higher).
The body may work, but you need to plug the return line. I think the plug from FZ can be moved.
Clean the strainer while pump is out. If your pump and strainer are known good, use them.
Swap sensor asm.
