I alternate between kill-switch and key. I don't like playing favourties.
If I am stopping for something and get off the bike, I usually use the key. If I am pulling over to have a chat while on the bike or doing work on the bike and planning on re-starting soon, I use the kill-switch and leave the key "on".
No set plan, just what I feel like doing at the time. I'm not a trained MSF monkey, I'm an individual!
MSF = Motorcycle Safety Foundation. They offer a motorcycle course among other things, and there is a ton of great information to be learned. I took it as a beginner, but had many in the course that have been riding for years.
I chose key. I would say I use that more often than not when I am actually turning the bike off for a while in normal operation. And I wanted to see how the poll was going.
The only time I used the kill switch on a bike was when I came off my XJ 6. As when I got to the bike the engine was still running. It was the quiets way to turn it off
