Cut of the upper clamps?

Hello

Have someone tried to cut of the "upper clamps" on the crown? Im going for clip ons and I want the "crown" to be flat. Will there be any problem to cut them of with a angle grinder? Anyone done this?

It's been done here (Not by me).

Just don't take away from the structural integrity..
