hmmmm I scuffed mine too....and the 05 silver version even.
could one of you guys, who bought one, maybe tell me the part # for the replacement? I was on the (digital) horn to bikebandit.com and they got me confused worse than I started out with - thought I had the right part #, but their microfiche listed crank case cover numbers 1 and 2 and when I asked them what was what they told me neither was the crank case cover :confused:

(right now I'm seriously considering at least attempting a respray (might do it in black tho) just to not have the hassle of getting the part.)

Part #1, Bikebandit part #2749173 is what you want. If you take your cursor over the crankcase page and pull it up, you'll see the left stator cover..

FYI:
Another option vs removing material is to buy a product "all-metal". See below...
  • Wipe repair area with Prepsol or Lacquer thinner to remove oils, grease etc
  • Rough sand area to be repaired 80 - 120 grit
  • Apply mixed product with applicator filling gouges
  • Let cure (start bike and warm it???)
  • Sand with 80 - 120
  • Sand with 180 - 220
  • Sand with 320 - 400
  • Scuff remaining area to be painted 320 etc.
  • Wipe with Prepso
  • Apply matching paint in thin layers....

If you could let me know the color code too I'd really appreciate it. I might be headed up there over the next few days anyway and I'll check it out then. Having the color code ahead of time would definitely help, though.

Did you ever find out the color code for the 2005 silver/grey crankcase cover?

I saw a picture. Looks different from the rest of the bike. I have decided to just replace it next year. Ride with the scruffy this year. It's a conversation starter... Lol
