Hoping for the best, but trust in your instinct / judgement / feelings / the force. If something don't feel right with it, pull it over and check again. The consequences of a bike breaking down while riding are a little different than when anything with more than 2 wheels breaks down while riding.

Good point. I’ll definitely keep an ear out for changes in the noises the bike makes. Don’t want a seized bearing on the motorway for sure.
