chatter from front brakes

I haven't had any brake chatter whatsoever but saw this thread and figured I'd check mine..

Unless their stuck really bad, I used an "Easy Out" with brake cleaner and was easily able to rotate all the bobbins.. It didn't take much force as I guess they were pretty clean.. Didn't take 10 minutes total...

Looking at the video, even with the bobbins loose, there isn't nearly as much play (if any..) between the disc and and the round hard mounted inner piece.

I suppose the FZ has considerably tighter clearances than the dirt bike in the video..

I think the clunk/clunk as described would be considered excessive wear on a factory disk set-up although I could be wrong.

As I see it, our bikes have "semi-floating discs" where as the bikes you hear the clank clank clank at low speed have full-floating discs for thermal expansion under extreme conditions like actual racing.

FZ6 should not clank, so those with disc lateral runout (side to side variation) issues likely have a bent or deformed rotors.

IMO most would not feel if the rotor had an eccentric or elliptical action as the pads still have 100% contact even if the rotor didn't turn a true circle on its circumference. Also I don't recall a spec called out for disc run-out on the circumference. In short, I don't see freeing the rivets helping as they retain the disc 100% not allowing side to side movement in our application.

Does that make sense?
 
Twice sense the R6 fork conversion I've had the nose chatter. It was set in motion by heavy braking on a choppy surface. From this it puts us the rider in motion actually applying varying brake pressures which I believe also gets the tire involved. So between the fork damping (comp & rebound), tire bouncing, rider varying the brake pressure (handle bar bumping wrist) - the nose chops until one of the variables changes. Toss anyone of them out and the issue goes away. Well it has for me and in this case I'm stating mechanical function is 100% fine, but was induced by the situation.

+1 on the above.

The FZ front brakes are "semi-floaters".

There shouldn't be any clunking from the disks.
Even after spinning the retainers, the disc's are still tight, (unlike the video and some Ducuti's and full race bikes).
