How fast were you riding on the highway?

I was running a 15/48 for about a year or so. The RPM's at highway speed was too high for me, so I went with a 47 in the back this time. Both of these are a 520 chain.

Drop the front to 15 and go with the 520 conversion, you will love it I promise. My fuel economy is still well intonear the 40's, usually about 38mpg, and I ride all the time.

The boost in perceived horsepower increase through harder acceleration was and is well worth the maybe 1 or 2mpg loss. My speedo error is this: indicating 82, going 70mph so its about a 15% margin of error on my 15/27 setup.

Do the 520 conversion and get the 15/47 gears with it, you will love it. You can find the kit I have on Ebay from SumOfAllParts.

Well the 15 toother is in. My bike leaps like an impala running from lions in every gear now.

i recently have changed the front sprocket to 15 ,,,,there is a noticeable difference of acceleration,,,screwed up the speedo but i dont know how much yet,,i have to ride the bike with the gps on to see what exact difference it made,,,,

changing process is very easy,it took about 30mins all together,,,you dont need a special tool,,,i think the nut is 30mm and it is hard to unscrew it,,you have to loosen it before loosening the rear tire,,put the bike in neutral and stick something to the rear tire to stop spinning,,or have someone sit on the bike

after loosening the sprocket nut,,it is very easy to pull it out...place the new one in place and put the bike together...its very worth it,,,,you will loose the top speed ,it doesnt matter that much but you will also be travelling at higher rpms than before at highway speeds...

I'm sorry but I just have to ask : what's up with all the ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ?

It's a 32 mm. I had a hard time finding one. They didn't have one at Lowes or Home Depot. I found it at Sears. It was very hard to unscrew.
