Bike cranks, no fuel prime.

Ended up being a dodgey connection at the ECU. Even though I pushed the connector back in, I didn't unplug it and then re-connect.

I imagine something about that connector is now dodgey which is something I will look into but Im glad to have the bike back.

Thanks for all your help guys, atleast I know alot more about the FI system on my bike now haha!

Now to charge the battery back up after having not ridden it for ages, hopefully im not back with it still not working afterwards.

I too have seen many things fail in this life time. Usually people play a hand in it at some level while other times its design or materials related.

Like your boat post, the guy was there and in the heart of it, but perhaps didn't know what he was looking for? Point being; small signals (loads, sensors, connectors) don't need much in the way of corrosion or misalignment to cause them to fail or not work as intended.

As the loads go up so does the current and failure becomes more obvious as parts are burned when the connection fails to supply current (energy/amps) through the intended path. Like that Relay you opened.

Once you get an eye for whats right, see damage from what wrong, and find a a way to PROVE your theory, i.e. bypass, clean, test a known condition, etc. You get one step closer to solving the unknowns in life.

One of the recent projects I was on had me measuring voltage drop across a fuse. Someone had replaced a solder in fuse with one of "equal value", yet downstream it caused a test failure. Placing a volt meter across the fuse I could see voltage. When under minor loads the circuit would fail different test but all diagnostics say its fine. Replace the fuse with a qualified component and walla - no more issues..... Sometimes things hide in plain sight!

Yepper, I've seen the bad but "looks good" fuse issue, rare but happens..

And this small connectors seem to be pretty common in many applications..

Doesn't take much to have just a tad of green corrosion, or a slightly loose connector to cause havoc..


Dielectric grease when you can apply it :thumbup:

(ya almost got me on the spelling of "dielectric"!!)
