a 190/55 is STILL too big for a 5.5'' rim.
190's full stop, 50 or 55 only work on 6'' rims found on thous.
a 180/55 is optimum.
I rode a 190/50 on a CBR6rr, and it rode fine. put a 180 on and it was much better.
Im having similar trouble with my suspension. I have also been used to decent stock suspension with full adjustablility - NZ's highways and backroads are commonly referred to as 'Goat tracks', and the difference is as obvious as night and day between a bike with good suspension, and the FZ6.
Ive got racetech springs, with heavier oil and more preload. Ive been playing with the rear shock somewhat - on all other bikes I have the rear HARD - but on the FZ, it ruins the handling now I find, as the rear wants to stay stood up wherever it can. Its a case of balance IMHO.
I strongly urge you to call Robert Taylor of crown technical in NZ, and tell him your suspension concerns (main dealer of racetech and ohlins) and im sure he'll have a solution for you as well as being able to help you understand the physics and geometry blah blah of what you are experiencing and trying to achieve.
