Adjusting the Headlights

I'm sorry in advance because I know this has probably been discussed plenty. I tried the Search feature but must be doing something wrong. My question is whether there is a simple adjustment to aim the low beams (and high beams if possible) higher. The light just doesn't go near far enough for me. When I had the Silver Wing scooter I was able to make a simple adjustment which worked great. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'll explain how to do the low beam... the high beam is pretty much the same thing. This should be how it's done on a 2004-2006... I'm not sure about the 2007 and newer. I have a 2006.

First, you'll need to remove the back black part of the front faring. Each side has 3 4mm hex bolts and a small plastic philips fastener. You'll need to pull up the rubber base of the mirror to uncover the philips fastener. Take a look at the first 2 pictures for the bolt and screw locations. You'll also have to unplug the back of the headlight because the wires should be run through a little hole in the black plastic piece that you're removing.

Next, you'll see a 10mm bolt on the bottom left of the low beam (opposite for the high beam, it's on the bottom right). Turn the bolt clockwise to lower and counter-clockwise to raise. See the 3rd picture for this bolt location.

Then just put everything back together! :thumbup:

I'm pretty sure the 2007 is mostly identical to your bike. Here you'll find the owner and service manual for the 2007. Page 117 of the service manual shows how to make the headlight adjustments. Looks the same as my 2006... and it also tells you the bolt for the horizontal adjustment.

From the pictures on page 123 of the service manual, it looks like the plastic piece you have to remove, "Front cowling inner panel", is different. Mine has 2 individual parts and the 2007-newer has one that goes across both sides.

This is the best I can do without actually having a newer style bike in front of me. Hope this helps.
