2007 FZ6 vs. 2008 FZ6

Is there any difference besides color? I am going to get one, and I have been looking around and found both model years available. Color wise, I like the 2007 factory Yamaha blue, and the 2008 all black looks cool too.

I would like to know if there are any techincal differences though, even if they are minor, between the 07 and 08.

Nope, same difference. If you look you can probably find a screaming deal on an '07. Like about $6,500 or less out the door.

$6500 is spot on! thats how much i paid for mine about a month ago, although I did have to work the sales guy over for 2 days before he realized i wasnt a chump and going to pay MSRP for a model year older bike.

I would have to assume (i know i am assuming...) the day you purchase it. That is the way it is with cars, and air conditioners (actually start up date w/goodman/amana).

As I understand, it starts when it's titled. That's the way mine worked (I bought a new old '07, full warranty from the date of purchase).

I don't know why but I just cannot warm up to the new "cobalt" color!

I bought mine in 07 red originally, then I saw the blue and talked the dealer into swapping my tank and fairings to blue, which they did, but now i wish I had the 07 red again, or better yet... maybe i can talk them into swapping for the beautiful 08 black?

Check the prices again, I heard there was a huge drop recently on all Japanese bikes!

oh, and one more thing, the warranty, by law in most states (usa) starts when you take ownership of the warranted item.

Mechanically and Technologically they are one and same bike. Color wise; I could be colorblind for all I care. I got my 2007 model this January for $6100 OTD. So you should be able to haggle way below that for an '07 as its almost May!

Go for whatever color you like, there is no difference between the bikes. A dealer here in southern NH has a broken in '07 with 919 miles and frame sliders in blue for $5699. He has been advertising for a little while (he is not a Yamaha dealer - it was traded in for a CBR). You should be able to get the '07 for much less than 6500 OTD at this point. I got my '08 for $6600 without much haggling and others have done better. This is price for everything but tax. Good luck!

Welcome to the site! :thumbup: The FZ6 was revamped for 07, with a new faring, gauges, and retuning the engine. So probably very little is new to the 08 other than colors. Whatever color you prefer, your getting a great bike.

Besides the colors, the '08s have a flat black accent piece around the headlights.

Mine is an '08, black. The color was the final thing to sell me on the bike. There's a little bit of metallic in the black.

Color wise was a hard choice. But when you see the Black in person it is hard not to get it. Here is my 08 in Black. Just waiting for my Carbon Fiber Scorpion exhaust to set it off.

I wanted the cobalt 08 but couldn't wait for it. I got a red 07 for $6000 otd. That was in November. You should be able to do better than $6500 now.
