I was just wondering. Ive done a lot of research on aftermarket mufflers and have come to the conclusion that...i cant afford one. . .I just wanted to make my bikes exhaust a little bit more loud and aggressive. If i gut the exhaust completely, Will it essentially be an open exhaust and in return get the job done? Or will it not be worth the labor for the results?

Thanks , Matt

I honestly dont think the labor will be worth it buy I'm sure there will be others to disagree. If you keep your eyes open on here you can find some good deals on used exhaust. I bought a set of leo vince titanium for $250, and scorpions are selling about once a week for 3-350. Hope this helps bro.

If you're going to go through all that effort, it would probably be worth it just to buy a single can and modify the exhaust pipe and the bike so it looks right. Both would require a bit of welding. The single exhaust would just add some vacuum forming of plastic. It's fairly easy though.

I've thought about it. I've even considered flexable exhaust tubing.

My muffler is gutted not drilled out and compared to the price of the new exhaust system I love it
Although it is very loud and it is very aggressive not for everybody

There was a post some where on the forum of someone who did a modified gut job on the forum and I thought he did a pretty good job. He modified it and did packing etc. I was impressed that he thought it out and instead of just drilling it out he did the packing which I think might give it a little better tone. The downside would be repacking it unless he made the packing accessible.

Edit: Found the post....http://www.600riders.com/forum/fz6-mods/39069-heavily-modded-stock-exhaust.html

I bought a standard box off fleabay for £20, then took it to an exhaust specialist who cut the end off, removed some (but not all) the baffling and rewelded it for £40. So a total of £60, is that about $80-90, it sounds really distinctive, more like a ferrari type of rasp to it, loudish but not offensive, money well spent

Thanks alot everyone for their reply. . .I am probably going to end up doing a single exhaust mod and just covering the excess space with a black mesh or something to that effect. . .Ive done some vacuum bagging but it seems that the same job will be accomplished. I'll see how it goes! Thanks again!
