Is there a tire other than racing tires that are rated for over 200mph? Defy? What do you use?
I'm not aware of any outside of shaved racing tires that you'd not want on the road.
I have to ask... "Why?" We all know that the FZ6 isn't getting there... heck, even a stock Hayabusa can't do it without some mods.
You got me straight-trippin' Boo!
Asking for my husband he wants to hit that mark maybe out at the salt flats.. his top speed is 160 so we were just curious, he needs new tires I did some research so I think we are getting the road smart touring but if you have another suggestion.. I am all ears errr, eyes. hehe
^^^^^^^
??????????
what Kinda bike Does he ride?
Boo, running on the salt flats is quite different than a street. If I were hitting the salt I would be contacting the folks that do it. When I lived in California that was the Southern California Timing Association. The folks used to run on El Mirage dry lake just outside Adelanto California.
He has a ZZR1200 with a factory jet kit, with Muzzy exhaust. 160hp currently.. It is a beautiful bike.. I always think, I should take it for a ride.. but it is huge for me.
FZ6NH, the salt flats, when groomed for the events, are smoother than Maxtom will ever dream of being. El Mirage is another example. When groomed for an event, that thing is dead smooth as opposed to the concrete expansion joints of that old air strip. If you ever get the chance to go to an event on the salt flats, do not hesitate to go as it is an awesome experience.
If you watch some of the videos from both events as well as listen to the record holders (for bikes) they all prefer Maxton over the flats for record runs. The flats and El Mirage are far better for vehicles with more than two wheels. These record breakers have more confidence on tarmac hence their preference. Now, since sanctioned events and points run carry them to all three locations, they haven't a choice but to run all three to remain in contention for the title and a run up the ladder.
Charlie, I would love a chance at seeing sanctioned events at all of these locations. Perhaps when I retire, I'll follow the circuit at that time for a long running tour! THAT would be fun!
