    Opinions wanted - Chain Rivet

Well, I was able to get the rivet link back off and get new O-rings from the links I had cut off since the chain was 120 links. I put the rivet back on using spacers as to not over tighten or crush the O-rings and it came out perfect!!

    Opinions wanted - Chain Rivet

So does anyone know if there is a 'generic' rivet link I can use. It seems that Bikemaster one I need is on backorder until sometime in February. From what I have heard here, I shouldn't ride it without that missing O-ring.

    Opinions wanted - Chain Rivet

The brand is Bikemaster. I thought maybe I could use a generic 530 rivet link or something otherwise I will have to order the link online somewhere. I guess perhaps I should get 2 in case I mess up another one!

    Opinions wanted - Chain Rivet

I got a new chain and sprockets. The chain came with a rivet link. I bought a chain breaker/rivet tool at harbor freight tools that works well. Unfortunately, I think the rivet link is too tight. I separated the side plate a little farther with a screwdriver and that seemed to free up the link...

    Ventura Rack System

Thanks for noticing that it was off center - good eye. This brings up the point of just how easy the rack is to adjust!! Next time I take pictures of a project I will wait until I adjust/tweak it before I post

    Ventura Rack System

Yes, I think the brackets will certainly help out with the saddlebags. I just ordered a 'sissy' bar bag that will slip right over the vertical rail and sit on the seat (or on the rack if I have a passeneger). Makes for a nice easy setup.

    Ventura Rack System

Rack is installed. Took about 45 minutes. I'm rather pleased with it. Its very sturdy and is well hidden/streamlined to the bike (hidden if you take the rack off and leave the brackets)

    Ventura Rack System

I just got the Ventura rack brackets and Pack-rack delivered. The instructions certainly aren't the best for installation. Has anyone installed this rack before that can offer some tips before I head in to the garage?

First mileage report: 99% highway between 70-75 mph for entire tank of gas. Was at 200 miles when the odometer began to flash for the fuel trip to start 52 mpg This same trip and same riding style I used to get mid 40's with stock gearing so there is a little difference....about what I...

Thats also taking in the consideration that your speedo is probably off by 4 or 5 MPH so if you were truly going 65 mph (which would read 69-70) the RPM's would be higher without a doubt. So you guys are saying that upping 1 tooth makes no difference? Well, if thats the case going down one...

70 mph - 5800RPM 75 mph - 6200RPM 80 mph - 6600RPM Feels very smooth on the highway so for those who have a long commute may really want to consider the changeover. Took 1/2 hour or so. In conclusion, it looks like the RPM's lowered about 300-400 and the speedometer seems more accurate.
