From the literature that came with the sprocket set, the teeth on the rear sprocket are hardened so they will last longer. We'll see! The front sprocket is hardened steel.
I put a +1 front sprocket on this weekend along with a new chain and rear (46T) sprocket. I wanted to give my FZ6 a little "longer legs" and that's exactly what this mod did. I now run 74-75 mph doing the same RPM I used to get 69-70mph. The bike just feels a bit more relaxed keeping up in...
Here's a few pictures I took of my FZ6 after installing the FZ1 bar with SW-Motech 1" risers. The risers put the FZ1 bar grips at about the same height as the FZ6 bar and allows more room for adjustments without having to worry about smacking the tank with the switches.
I use these bags on the FZ6 and my R100S and they have been great. Just got to keep the top straps short enough to support the weight without sagging. No other hardware necessary. Cortech saddle bags with matching tail bag.
Sorry it took so long to get these posted, but here are some pictures with the 1" risers. A very surprising improvement with this setup was the reduction in the buzzy vibration at the bars. It almost eliminated it completely!
I can adjust the bars to where I like them without...
Yes, my bars hit the tank too. They can be adjusted up until they barely miss or risers must be used. I ordered some risers and they are supposed to be in today. I think the risers will give me a much greater choice of position for the bars because I should be able to rotate them level without...
Just wanted to chime in and show a vote for the Arrows system. I liked the lines of the stock system, but it looked so cheap up close. The Arrows were the best at keeping the original lines of the bike, but were also a quality product. I also didn't want to make a lot of noise and the Arrows...

2010 Yamaha FZ8 rendering - Top Speed
Another "best-guess" / "what if" picture. I don't care for the "transformer" styling, but the mechanical bits I see, I like.
I would really like to see a picture of you on the bike to get an idea of how much the rearsets change the riding position. I've never considered them, but was impressed by the quality and how well they seemed to fit. Track day, anyone?
I slipped on a set of "Grip Puppies" over the stock grips and they helped snuff out a lot of the vibes. I tried going with the bare stock grips, but they are a bit too small in diameter and really did nothing to help the buzz at highway speeds.
I'm 5'10" and sold a R1150R to get the FZ6. The wind protection on the FZ6 is just as good as it was on the BMW (which had a sport fairing). That is to say it's very good. I like having head and shoulders in the wind stream. I find it's more comfortable than being completely behind the screen...
I believe now would be the perfect time for Yamaha to update the FZ6. Here is my "would be" wish list:
1. Inverted, adjustable R6 front fork
2. Rebound adjustable rear shock
3. ABS (already available in the non-USA world)
4. I guess that's it. I really can't...
I don't have any to lend, but I would suggest you add "Sport Riding Techniques" by Nick Ienatsch. I bought the other books you mentioned and I like Ienatsch's book the most. He's a writer by profession and being a writer, he clearly communicates the ideas presented in his book and does a much...
The swingarm stickers are on the other side. I have been reluctant to try to peel them off, because once you go down that road, there's no turning back. I've read the threads about getting them off, but it hasn't been a priority. Although, now that you've brought it up, I'll most probably give...
Just got my Corbin in last week. I have Corbins on all my bikes and I love the way they look as much as how they feel. I gave the Yamaha Comfort seat a try, and it was an improvement, but not nearly as good as the Corbin. A lot of people here seem to really like the Top Saddlery seat, but it...
"If you want to finish first, you must first finish". - Max Biaggi after he won the WSBK Race 1 at Brno.
Jorge didn't have to crash. He was so anxious not to finish second to Rossi, he let his head get away from him. When we watched his front wheel slide away we might as well have been...
My Corbin seat came in yesterday and, with the help of a few washers under the latch, it fit like a glove. The seat is the one listed for the '04-'06 and I have an '07 model, but it wasn't a problem. I wanted vinyl, though, and got leather. But I since its here, I'm keeping it. I'd rather do...
I love touring on a "semi-nekid" motorcycle. I used to own a BMW R1150R, but it after awhile I decided I don't really need the extra heft (550lbs). So I got the FZ6 to lighten up (460lbs) and have added some features the BMW had:
Throttle Meister Cruise Control - $100
12V Power-let socket -...
I have been told in another forum that the pictures in the link above are fake and no "Tiger lite" is planned by Triumph. Anyone knowing something different, please let us know.
