My 2005 FZ6 was replaced by a 2003 GSXR 1000 last week. I've managed to put about 1000km already on the new machine, and I'm quite happy. I do miss my FZ6, but mainly for the fact that I was so used to it.
So, here's a small and fast comparison of the main points:
Comfort: the Gixxer...
I deserve it :) Had my Canadian motorcycle license for just about a year, that's why. That said, it's an M2, so I have no right to complain for the rates I suppose.
I know. Here are the rates:
FZ6 (currently paying $1050/year)
GSXR 1000 (if I was paying now, it would be $3600/year)
GSXR 1000 (in August: $1800/year).
I think I can live with the extra 800 or so per year.
Well, that time is slowly approaching. After enjoying the FZ6, I will be selling it this summer and moving on to a Gixxer 1000. What can I say---I want to go through the sportbike uncomfortable position while my back and my age are still compatible with such a bike. The FZ6 has given me a lot...
So, I confess, I've been having this day dreams about adding a SS to my garage sometime during the summer. What I want is to keep the FZ6 for my more relaxing rides, but have something uncomfortable yet powerful for when I want to "get crazy" :)
Initially I was thinking about a litre SS, but...
Thanks. I've completely changed my view since the time I posted this video, and I rarely exceed speed limit by more than 10-20 mph now. Since the video, I haven't and will not push the bike to such speeds ever again. In fact, just thinking about it gives me the shivers..
I'm putting handguards to stop the wind to my hands. That's because the fairings already do that job for the torso :) with that said, it would be silly to unprotect my torso in order to protect my hands, lol
Just got in the mail the Powermadd handguards, installed them, but they hit the front fairing where the mirrors are. Unfortunately it's snowing outside right now, so I won't get the bike out and test-ride it, so I'm wondering if anyone installed these on a 2005 FZ6 with fairings. If you did...
Hi everyone,
I'm the OP, thanks for the numerous replies (for some reason I didn't get notification there are posts, usually I do!).
So, I recently installed a sequential LED taillight, but the plate bulb burning was noticed even before, with the regular taillight that had no mods...
I'm desperate to get an invite for the RacingFor.me site. Anyone can help? I promise to be eternally grateful! That would be my only means of watching races and being in touch with the sport.

Ok, let me start over.
Both left and right 55 W filaments provide the same light output. However, the light output of the right side is obstructed by the high-beam filament design, as well as possibly the reflector design in the right is different than the left.
That said, the right side...
