    Where does this wire belong?

It doesn't look like any of the factory wiring from my 2005. It looks to be something from an dual headlight mod. Based on the length of wire I am guessing it would be the style that connects the left headlight to the right headlight (again this is a modification from factory operation) is...

Any sales on sport touring tires?

I think the shiko's are a love them or hate them situation. I do not hear much middle ground. If you track or prefer a sport tire then this will not be the tire. I have many miles in the rain and have had no problems with the tire. For me, I installed my second set last summer. It will be a...

help fixing after I laid her down

I agree it looks like it pulled through, but the bolt and wires are in distinct holes. For both to pull through there must be a crack connecting the two. It may go back together and be just fine, but the metal piece definately belongs on the other side of the rib inside the flexable rubber. The...

help fixing after I laid her down

As to your turn signal. The bolt and little metal tab are suppose to be in the inside of the rubber collar. See the pic of my signal apart (ignore the extra cut wires, you will only have the gray connector if it is stock). The way I see it there, must be a cut or crack somewhere for the metal...

    sudden rear brake failure

Since you mention there was heat radiating from the disk and caliper, and once cool the petal had pressure again, I suspect it got hot enough to essentially boil the fluid in the caliper. This will cause a very soft petal and very limited braking. With the mall caliper in the rear it may have...

Show us your "FZ" special tools

Oh, mr woody. Good way to start this. Anyway, front axle also happens to be the same size as the outisde of a 5/8 spark plug socket. Take out the rubber plug holder and insert the 3/8 drive backwards. This does not work with all spark plug sockets, but works with my craftsman set.

Anyone change their fork oil at a regular interval?

Now that you mention it, mine was that way to. Is it possible we are interpriting the top as the wrong end of the fork? Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2

Have you tried looking at the diagrams on a parts site, although sometimes they are a little hard to follow. Pictures are always helpful. It also looks like there are two possible designations S or T for certain aspects of the bike. 1987 Yamaha FZ600T Fuel Tank Fz600s T | MRCycles I...

    S1 Calipers on a 2008 FZ6 S2 rotor?

There are other sites that have parts schematics, but I linked to one below that shows an exploded view of the front caliper assembly for an 2005 S1 model. Parts 8 and 17 are the slide pins (greenish bolts). The should back out and have a threaded portion, then along smooth portion with areas...

Anyone change their fork oil at a regular interval?

So, in with doing my spring maintenance I decided to change the fork oil. My bike is a 05 FZ6 and I have had it since June 2010 at which time it had 7200 miles. This spring it is at 23k and change. I can say with relative confidence that the fork oil had not been previously changed, and i...

How to replace Front Fork Seals?

My thought is they help keep debris from reaching the actual seals of the fork, so without the seal more debris will make it to the seal causing faster and higher potential for leaking. Maybe higher chance of moisture making its way into the fork since the dust seal will kinda hold moisture down...

Using a Ranger to Haul FZ6

This is how my FZ made its way home in the back of my Mazda B3000 (ranger with slightly different exterior sheet metal) with a 6' bed. This was in the middle of the 4hr trip. It might be a bit hard to see but the rear tire is on the bed and not the tailgate.

    Chain needs some love....

That's an interesting concept. The idea is to keep it from rusting as you can not really lubricate modern chains due to the sealed nature of them. I may go to this. Have been using the a thin lube with Teflon in it. Edit: I also use kerosene or cleaner type heating fuel from hd. Sent from my...

Ball in rattle can noise after clutch engagement

It might be worthwhile to check your tire/chain alignment with the string method. The yammie likes to be near the 2" mark. I find that when I can push the chain up to the lower guide (as shown in the manual) on the swing arm it is time for a slight tightening...

    forward footrests

This is what I have, combined with the Sw-motech crash bars. The mounts are a bit blocky but the pegs rotate in notches and fold up. Make sure you locktite the bolts or they will come loose. The plating is a litttle shotty and I have a little corrosion starting after 2 years and about 12k...

    chatter from front brakes

Is this what you guys are talking about with the bobbins on the floating disk brakes. From the information I could find, factory disks are not suppose to have much movement, although some in and out is normal. I think the clunk/clunk as described would be considered excessive wear on a factory...

Givi PLX360 & V35 install - Not happy with results

It may not fix not being parallel to the bike but have you tried flipping the cross member 180 degrees such that the left side becomes the right. It will still bolt up and curve into the fender, but may fit better. Just a thought as I only have the top rack.

    Rear master cylinder bolt

If you don't mind having an hex head bolt, lowes has a section of stainless steel bolts. Sizes and lengths are a little limited but they have most sizes under 1.5".

    Help Needed with routing!

I don't have the same year bike but looking at the diagram, part 40 seems to be the overflow hose for the reservoir and 42 will be the hose that connects to the radiator just below the cap, this allows the coolant to flow between the radiator and reservoir as the coolant expands and contracts...

    Is that a beamer?

My comment and rant for the day. Guy pulls next to me on the FZ6 at a light on a HD with his wife and asks "What bike is that, a beemer?" Walk out of the store and some a**hat + some other sailor language left a cart against my bike. WTF people, take the 5sec to push it across to the...
