I'm sorry to hear that. Sliding at 60 MPH is no joke. I agree with Nelly. There's nothing to be learned here. It's just bad luck. Sand and gravel are the thing that scare me most and for that reason I try to avoid riding at night. Heal well my friend.

I think the OP was just tossing a bomb to see what came back. I've always admired what many of you can do mechanically. The only thing I've modified is my shoelaces. Then I had to take them to the cobbler to fix what I did.

try a full bike helmet. The helmet goes over the entire bike and rider...like DarK Helmet from Spaceballs. j/k It's a common problem actually. All of the above (well most of the above) are good solutions.
