This article appeared on the front page of MSN today and I thought it rather fitting. Great piece and long overdue as the general pubic needs to know more about why we ride.....

Why We Ride: The Joy of Motorcycling - MSN Autos

"Cornering becomes a symphony of precise movements instead of an awkward wallow, working in harmony with the road instead of fighting it tooth and nail."

Absolutely perfect! Excellent read!

Great Find!!

"Your body will feel the thousand tiny impacts of raindrops and absorb the buffeting of the wind. Your skin will feel the gently warming temperature as you crest a hill and drop to the valley floor below."

Can I sneak away from work for a few hours now?

This was well wrtten!

Many of the reasons he gives for riding are exactly why I got back in the saddle, so to speak.

I am under enormous pressure to perform with being a dad, husband, student and an EMT. I face situations daily that require every bit of my attention and skill, and in many cases, lives are on the line. One wrong move, and I have an organ donor lying in my stretcher. It's an adrenaline rush, and I live for it.

Same goes for riding; I can cruise easily, or I can hop on the throttle and experience a surge of rocket power. This is why I LOVE the FZ6!
It can be relaxed, like a cruiser but without the Shrek-like lack of agility, or I can get up toward the tank and really RIDE the road.

Even the most mundane of commutes turns into ADVENTURE!
Yarrrgh, matey!

Good post!

Love the last line:

"I always feel better after a ride than I did before."

Could not be any more accurate!!!

"Carrier launch" Ain't that the truth! I tell my daughter that it's like a roller coaster that you can make go anywhere you want to.

I sent the link on to two buddies on the verge of buying bikes. That should put them over. :D

I liked the whole article
One thing i find most beneficial about riding is that it is a form of meditation. I find this to be true to many of the people i ride with. Once on a bike your full attention is required, you need to focus your mind and body. In doing so you push all those things in your head in the faaar back corner or even forget about them to concentrate on riding. So any worries about bills, work, life, any doubts we have, any fears, all those dissapear to let room to focus on the road, on shifting gears, scanning the area ahead...After a good ride most people feel relaxed because for a moment they were able to let go, to forget about all the things mentioned above that might have been eating away at them, they step off the bike mentally refreshed. They just had a connexion with nature, with the elements, with the earth, the wind...I have experinced this before ^_^
