Haha WOOOOT! NOT my best moment!!

Oh and I second the idea of clutching it up being a bad idea... The bike will come of the ground straight throttle and you don't get the unloading/loaded effect, It stays engaged the whole time.. I can't see the video via my crappy computer but how are you doing the wheelie stand up/sit down???? How much do you weight?? Any who, SAFE RIDING!!!!!...

sitting down 225lbs

And this is why I don't do wheelies, then I would have to spend money fixing my bike.:)

Thats how i use to be, but then i did my first wheelie :p Haha. Now my outlook has changed, nothing radical about getting the wheel off the ground 3feet up in a safe manner and just "floating" for a few dozen feet, just with the throttle at the correct revs (no clutch), its very smooth, bike comes right up ^_^

how do you wheelie the FZ without using the clutch? and without yanking backwards on the handlebars as well obviously. best option ive heard here is get movin in 1st gear @ 7500rpm then clutch in extra throttle release clutch

Nice pictures and good job doing this in a safe area fully geared up. Don't let all the haters slow your progress. Rolling start FTW but a wheelie from zero is definitely something many highly skilled stunters do every time they ride (advanced skill!).

Keep it up and post more pics.

thanks for the support mate, i knew I wasnt a loonie-toon squid, im just out for a good time doin something i enjoy in as safe a manner as possible. lol, but ya, looked quite the fool trying the standing start wheelie haha. classic stuff. love it.

p.s. "defyinertia" is a pretty sweet name....i may steal it, lol, jk

I see nothing can stop you man! hehehe you are stubborn :D I can see cracked fairings on a pic (endo), which means the crash didn't stop you. Keep working on it !

BTW, your HIDs look like they can blind oncoming traffic. You should do something about that since it could be dangerous for you too

if you want to wheelie using the clutch START SMALL. you dont want to try too much too fast, obviously. roll around 15-20 mph around 4k rpm then just pull in the clutch and rev it to 9ish rpm then pop that sucker up and throttle from there. clutch is the safest way to wheelie IMO just rememeber back brake and youll be fine

I don`t mean to be unkind because I have been in a not too unsimilar situation.

But we all get what we deserve don`t we??

Glad to see you are in one piece.

Steve

haha i had started small, i was usually able to get the front tire as high off the ground as you see in the pictures fairly easily and without getting unstable. that time i crashed i was showing off for the camera trying to get it up to like 10 o'clock or so.

but thats good advice.

as for the HID's i didnt think theyd be that bright when i bought them. the problem isnt the bulbs. the problem is the fact that the reflective enclosure is built for stock halogens. the HID's are actually illegal i found out recently unless you have a reflective enclosure built for HID's specifically.

Well what i do is get in first gear, at around 7500rpm, cut the throttle (the bike will lean foward abit) then right away give almost full throttle and it comes right up very smooth with no need to use the clutch. Always have right foot on rear brake ready to stop it from going too high

Whats the minimum rpms to pull the front wheel up? Not that im going to try.... :)

I think ~7000 i'll lift a few inches, then 8000+ i'll lift a few feet all in 1st gear:

Its the best location i could find in the area, the lights are green 98% of the time for the main road (as the other roads intersecting it are still in construction), only time it'll turn red is if someone wants to do a u-turn, plus i could see farrrr down, wouldn't do it if i didnt feel safe

this guy has got it down to wheelie the FZ6!
