I figured I can do them on my bicycle so what the hell, why not give it a try on a motorcycle.

Once I got down too it, I was just too scared of dumping the bike and failed miserably.

I don't call that a fail at all! I saw air in all three runs, and you kept it rubber-side down!

I've only done one in my life; I just got the bike (my first) and as I approached a red light, it turned green, I was in 2nd, so I thought "max acceleration!!" The front wheel went up, unexpectedly.

Unscheduled laundry stop.

1st gear rolling at about 15 mph.

Not sure on the RPMs, you don't hold them you kind just grab a fistful of throttle while popping the clutch. So I wasn't really paying attention to my RPMs, I was just going by feel.

Not fail but not the homerun you were seeking i suppose. Baby steps are far better than going over! Thata said, I'd work on powering it up as it gives more time to feel whats going on how it responds, where the balance is. The clutch up is good but you need it above 6k for a good pop and then its clutch in and work on balance having foot covering the brake.
All i can say is the clutch pop gets it there Fast and you better be ready to act gast or you'll need a new bike!

Braver than me! I could never get the front up on my treadly and keep it there for more than one or two pedal revolutions. And on the dirtbike I would drop the occasinal one but tended to come down on an angle so on the road its a big no no for me, I just dont want to for fear of doing some damge to the bike or me

Did you bang your nuts during the landing on the third wheelie?

The FZ6 is not the best bike for pulling the front end. Get a dual sport and you can wheelie all the time.

Not bad, for the fz6 I would recommend that you go a little faster. When I had the fz6 I would pull up to about 50mph on first. Let it engine brake to about 40-45 and nail it.

Keep it loose and land neutral, your throttle arm will pull to the right so be light... Don't be afraid of dropping it. Keep on the power because I doubt it has enough torque to throw you.

I have been so vertical on my 09 that I kissed the moon an stared at the horizon in complete weightlessness. Once you do one you won't stop. I started small with hard landings and eventually learned to ride them out. (Tho hard landings often happen in A MODE)

One place i ride often has a stop sign in a field. You have 360° field of view so when its clear, i launch. Nose powers up at 9k in 1st an touches down at 12k in 2nd. It simply runs out of power and cant go over in 2nd! :spank::spank::spank: ps nose goes down soft that way...
Its what makes it fun as you have to work at some things.

Based on the title of the thread I thought you crashed. From what has been posted I guess you didn't. No need to watch the video now.

Yes, yes I did.

I'm thinking about buying something really small to learn them on. Maybe a grom...

Like most people that want to see you wheelie, they actually just want to see you eat it. :)

I tried to post the thread title in a suggestive way, figured I might get more clicks.

That being said, I grew up racing BMX and riding dirt bikes (didn't race, but I could power wheelie those as they were 2 strokers), I still ride my MTB very hard, I also was pretty good at skateboarding for awhile. Point being, I fully understand a crash is part of this game, and I'm kind of expecting it.

If I saw someone were to eat it trying to learn a trick in a abandoned parking lot like I am, I just tell them to get up walk it off and try it again. Crashing isn't what it's about, it's just part of it.

As far as the wheelie goes, I think I need to lower my tire pressure. I think it'll come up better without wheel spin.

Negative ghost rider, get it warm first.

Helpful advice, Pin it in first, cover the brake with your foot of course, and you can always bring it down via rear brake or shift to second. The FZ6 doesn't like to stay on one wheel via a power wheelie past first gear.

Get what warm first? The tire? I run 30 psi in the rear on the street, 25 psi at the track, and I was thinking 20 psi for wheelies. Pretty much every article I'v read says to drop your rear to 20 psi for the speed that I'm going.

Not doing power wheelies, I'm just not anywhere near balance point. The goal with the first time was just to get used to clutching it up and then chasing it, I didn't want to get anywhere near balance point while I wasn't used to how the bike reacts and how the back brake feels.

My next step is going to be chasing wheels while staggered, after I get that down I'll start lifting it higher. I don't like doing wheelies sitting down, it's scary.

Tires fine, the FZ6 has no problem spinning tires. It may be down on HP compared to other 600s, but it's not exactly down on torque.

If I drop my pressures down from the "recommended" level it'll probably hook up. Also, I hear standing makes it less likely to spin. I probably have too much weight over the front still.
