To buy or not....

Currently looking at a deal to purchase a pre-registered bike for 2k off the RRP. However, I have also seen a second hand bike which seems a good deal.

Which one would you go for and why?

depends on what you can afford, and what you want. The K6 GSXR is pretty nice IMO, plus resale value would be easily be around £1000-1500 after 3 years I reckon.

On the other hand, shiny shine new is also good, and 7k doesn't seem like an awful lot.

I've got a K3 GSXR track bike and it's great fun.

How many miles have you put on the fazer? You passed your test in february this year if I read right? I only passed in March and haven't got close to being 100% brilliant 100% of the time - something you'd have to be on a gsxr - then again I am an old fart

On the purely maths front, having a google suggests your resale estimate on the secondhand one is £2000 low - that seems to be a reasonable price for a 2003 right now, call it £1500 for a quick sale. Just makes the sums a little different.

unless they look perfect or obsessively taken car of, i dont buy street bikes used. dirt bikes can be stripped/fixed/whathaveyou pretty cheap, and most of the time life is not on the line whilst rinding one. however a street machine is quite the opposite in all of these ways. Also since SS bikes tend to get thrashed and the average Gixxer rider's reputation precedes them, there's a very high chance that it was not taken "obsessive" care of. not to mention that of the Big4 Suzuki generally has the lowest build quality, so newer is better to an even higher extent with one of their bikes.

In all honesty i do like the GSXR line (especially the 750), i like their pain schemes (especially the black/bronze and the white/blue/gunmetal from a few years back), i think that they are good bikes, BUT i would end up with the Yami or the Kawi in the garage.

I'm thinking of delving into a superbike myself after being left in the dust on every straight at Rockingham recently. Although purely in the interest of everyday day practicality I'd go for a CBR because of the fuel gauge!

Yeah, in the 'Novice' group, which consisted of 2 other road bikes and the rest were track bikes on warmers.

There is a gsxr 750 demo with 300 miles in blue and white for the same price!

Insurannce is very expensive due to not having any NCD

I passed in march and have done approximately 300 miles

I guess the 2006 gsxr 600 will have a resale value but guess that will be taken up by not having the 2 years warranty I would get with a brand new bike

I think the decision has to be between the demo 750 vs 2014 black and white 600
