How can I patch this up?

I caught my waterproof leggings on the left foot rest when bump starting my bike yesterday. Haven't ridden for four days, its very cold and the alarm had discharged the battery.
With this resulting damage. I was very unlucky as the faring top left corner hit a boulder. Nil damage anywhere else. The engine guard did brilliantly.
I am not going to go naked, I want to patch the damage and I'll save the money for a new fairing.
Ideas appriciated.

I have run some epoxy down the crack to stop it rattling. Easy enough to remove. I want to fix the hole really.

I'm gutted for you mate, what a pisser. Almost the same thing happened to me last week, except I tore the waterproof's thank god! It looks like the exact damage done to mine when I lowslided last year!

You can make a template from cardboard and lay some fiberglass on it. I've done that to patch my boat.

Really sorry to hear about your off Nelly

Is your headlight still OK, When I had my off I had a fracture in my lens which would have let water in after a while.

Have you tried glueing it already?

Do you have the missing bits?

I thought this guy did a great job, maybe a few tips here.

You can also use glass fibre, used on my (now stolen) boat in the past, or melt other ABS plastic using Acetone and spatula it on the back side of the plastic for extra support (did this on my previous bike).

Good you're okay! How about some Gorilla Tape. I used to use regular duct tape but then they looked at my life and the damages and said no you need Gorilla Tape!

The resin might get messy. You want to keep it off your headlamp lens. You have the S1 and maybe you can get someone's leftover fairing from this side of the pond and paint it?

Actually, if you have some thin aluminum or sheet metal, you could drill a couple of holes thru it and the cowl and bolt them together to hold it as one piece. It'll look crappy but will keep it togther until you get you new parts... :Sport:


Hope you didn't bend the fairing main stay, the nose will look crooked while seated on the bike if it is.. Not super hard to change out but another $160.00

Well looks are not important to me as it's my main mode of transport function and reliability are #1. I can't have the bike off the road for more than 3 days due to work.
I'll probably go the glass fiber route.
Blood temperature has dropped in the last few days so curing is going to be an issue.
Gorrilla tape till mid spring.

I would go with carbon fibre personally, the natural black look would blend well. That being said, if you look at my fairing, the cracks have been patched from the inside with scraps of Kevlar wetted out with superglue as epoxy. Strong as hell!
