So in Feb I dropped my bike bump starting it. Unfortunately there was a big rock in the road which smashed my fairing.
I plan on getting a new fairing but its not a priority at the moment.
I wanted to patch it up so it was functionally ok, without a big bloody hole left in it.
Initially I glued the pieces I could find off the road.
I decided to use materials I had at home or in the garage. I have no experience with type of work, nor do I advocate this bodge as best practice.
Next I used some Gorrila tape to line the rear of the hole.
Then I mixed some epoxy resin to make a bed for the filler and join the 3mm split along the fairing to the headlight.
I had some plastic bumper repair filler which I used in layers. It has a grainy finish.
I sanded this down between layers, I had 80g to 200g paper available.
Then I painted it with a touch up spray and brush, blasted with a hair dryer in between coats, with light sanding after each coat.
Total time spread over the last few weeks 4 hours cost bugger all.
Like I said not pretty but I'm happy.
cheers
