Best frame sliders?

I, and others, somehow managed to find and purchase frame sliders without the use of a forum for help. Spending about 20-30min on Google yeilded me with more than enough info to make an educated choice in material, quality and price.

I can't speak for others but I'd come to the FZ6 forum first and ask the people who actually bought and used the products before a global Google search. I value the opinion of those closer to the product as well as their personal experience. Why go global with a search when all the information needed is right here?

Aren't these forums here for us FZ6 owners to ask questions and share information? Why would you tell a fellow FZ6 owner to go look elsewhere?

BTW I never TOLD anyone to GO elsewhere...I explained other and available options for finding needed information if one can't find it here. The Internet is pretty big!

You are 100% correct that these forums are for sharing information....and a lot of times people need to just take a few extra minutes and try to find it. It's the same problem with every forum I guess. I don't mind helping people. I think my track record, posts and own web site are proof of that. I also answer dozens of PM's and emails outside of my posts here every week. I just don't always feel like helping those who seemingly don't want to help themselves and just want to be spoonfed everything. We all spend a lot of time putting information on here for the good of all and I geuss sometimes I get out of sorts when people ask questions without taking some time to READ or do a few minutes of investigation for themselves before pounding that New Thread button. I'm not saying that this happened in this particular thread, but it just happened to boil over in it. Missplaced frustration on my part.

Last thing I want to do is anger people here, but rather make them perhaps put some effort of their own forth at times. I think I went about it the wrong way. Sorry for that all (lack of sleep from the 2 month old I guess).

If it's any consolatoin, I do feel a bit better now....

oh boy...if it wasn't for such a helpful forum I'd probably be riding a GSX650F now, so, thanks for all the advice. I do use the search function and did read some of the other posts. I was all set on the Shogun's and now the places I wanted to get them don't have them. I'll just get the motovation (unless I can use my Newenough credit) which look nice and are $78 including shipping.

Let's put this thread to rest! As someone mentioned, it is only frame sliders.

I purchased a pair of Uncaged frame sliders from a member who had an extra set. Fortuanately, they haven't been put to the test. However, one of the plastic end caps (which I thought would be made out rubber for some reason) unscrewed itself from the vibration of the bike, so I'm missing one end. I looked into replacing the cap, and according to Uncaged, they only sell them in pairs, and run about $35, not including shipping. I thought that the price was pretty steep, considering I could just buy another set for another $30 bucks. So I'm kind of in the same situation as you, wondering if I should try another brand. I'm considering Motivation. I will suggest that if you do get sliders, make sure you use some thread locker so they won't unscrew. But if I did buy just the plastic caps, if I ruin one, I'll have another replacement assuming that the whole slider is intact. That might be my route. Or if the sliders is not intact, then I will need a whole new assembly, so maybe I should just buy a new set.

uncaged issued a "fix" for the slider caps falling off. only certain batches are known to have this problem.

Ahhh... the frustrations of lack of sleep that comes with the little "Gift" . . . I remember those days and don't envy you but it gets better... Just ignore the Doc and start them on cereal once a bottle doesn't keep them asleep for 4 hours... you'll be fine! We started the twins on cereal after 12 weeks and they turned out just fine!

Yes, I do agree with you regarding those who don't help themselves. And yes, it was the way you worded it. Being new users who often do this though, they should be pointed to site rules and helpful hints though... not spanked. How about a blanket but brief initiation message for n00bs explaining the search function (and more than three characters cause I didn't know that...) I just thought you could have been less aggressive with new people. We don't want to scare them off!

Now, with the veterans here? I'd expect you to throw sarcasm at them. People just need to be careful because sometimes sarcasm meant to be playful banter can come across as a personal attack.

To stay on topic, yes, Uncaged had a run of sliders that did have issues with the pucks dropping off. They recommended the non-permanent Locktite or scoring a line in the plastic threads through all but the bottom three starter threads. Personally, since they've admitted a design flaw, I think they should man-up and send one replacement puck for free. I think those that have had the trouble all need to gang up and pepper them with complaints until you get your way and if you don't, start some bad publicity in the forums and be sure they get a link to the forum so they're aware of it.

I must have gotten the bad batch. Could you please provide me with some more info regarding the "fix" issue they had. Just wondering if I can get reimbursed for the lost cap.
