If it were flat black, it would nearly be invisible. Living on a muddy dirt road, I can really understand the desire for better wheel coverage. I'd go even further..... there's still a lot of 'slop' possible from the open sides, above the swing arm. Enclose that, as well.
Then, doing the fender eliminator/tail tidy stuff makes sense. The only real problem is how to make it fit with enough room to deal with chain adjustments, etc. Has to be a bit larger than absolutely necessary because of that.
I'd also shorten it slightly... move the rear edge 'forward', maybe 4" or so. Any roost in that angle will most likely clear the bike anyway.
