Australian Battered Potatoes?!

Went to the local DelMar Fair for the first time in all the years Lisa and I have lived out here. I found this! Is there such a thing as Australian Battered Potatoes?!

In West Aus they are called "scallops" (same as the seafood)

They're cheap too, like 25c each if you look hard enough! I didn't think this was just an Aussie thing.....! I guess they're similar to hash browns, but the potato is just a single slice.

Haven't seen them anywhere other than Oz.

First time I ordered them I was really disappointed. They were potatoes, and not scallops !

The Good Ol Potato Cake, or Potato Fritter from the Fish & Chip shop...heaps of salt, chicken, or plain, a big whack of dead horse, and a bit of vinegar...yummo!

Humpy and Mrs Humpy sent me some vegemite in an Aussie "goodie" package. I seriously couldn't get it past my nose! My daughter tried it, then asked me what Australians had against their taste buds. This was after trying "Musk Lollies" (Lifesavers that taste like perfume)
I still have to get together a "Canuck" goodie bag for them...seems the only truly Canadian thing we have is maple flavoured things lol
