No doubt vegemite is an aquired taste. Ive given it to friends from Canada & they spat it out.

Does everyone else have chiko rolls?

Humpy and Mrs Humpy sent me some vegemite in an Aussie "goodie" package. I seriously couldn't get it past my nose! My daughter tried it, then asked me what Australians had against their taste buds. This was after trying "Musk Lollies" (Lifesavers that taste like perfume)
I still have to get together a "Canuck" goodie bag for them...seems the only truly Canadian thing we have is maple flavoured things lol

Holy ****. I was kind of hungry when I opened this thread. Now I am starving.

One more reason to wish I was in Australia.

This thread got really funny with the twist to Vegemite. There's no way I'm going through life wondering what I'm missing here. I'm with you, Cliff. Gonna try to find it, or someone who can find it for me, asap. HA!

Oh yeah I'll try it. I remember how terrible limburger cheese smelled but it was pretty good on crackers.

Once my co-workers and I taped some limburger to the outside back of our bosses middle desk drawer. Every time he opened that drawer he was disgusted and awe at what that terrible smell could be....Hahahahaha! We're still laughing about it! :rof::rof:

Vegemite can't be that bad and of course I've eaten some pretty exotics foods along the way including fried grasshoppers.

Chiko Rolls...got a 4 pack of em in the freezer right now...vegemite, everyone in our house loves it, especially the 2 year old, and he quite often wears the Vege Tash afterwards!

A glass of Chocolate Quik, 2 slices of toast with heaps of butter, and a smattering of vegemite, has been my staple breakfast since i was a little boy!

If i am really hungry, then i have a bowl of Coco-Pops! Another Aussie "Staple"!

So you dont freak out when you get it....it has an extremely intense flavour, so at first, dont use much...a "Smattering" is usually enough....when you become addicted, you eat off a spoon, like my 11 year old trys to get away with from time to time!!! :spank:

Like i said, is great on toast, or on toast, with a slice of cheese melted on top! And even better, put a poached egg on top of the slice of cheese, and add some decent "dead horse"!

Don't spread it on your bread too thick - try just a "little" bit. It is an acquired taste. Too thick and you'll never try it again
