Dyno tuning FZ6 @ AF1 racing

Dynojet has something similar. Its the Eddy load controller. Its alot to explain but the quick version is you can test and control ALOT with that system. You can hold a bike a 10%-WOT and the dyno will slow the bike and hold it at a predetermined rpm while you change A/F ratio for that rpm. I only scratched the surface of what the dyno can do. Its truely amazing.

Factory Pro and Dyno Jet are apples and oranges. Do a little digging, the DJ numbers are arbitraty. FPs is very accurate and consistent from day to day.

Also FP use % of CO not AFV as AFV is a dynamic number, not a static number.

The A/F ratio was only being used from the PCIII. DJ didnt change anything on that aspect it just controlled the load. Ive only been trained on DJs thus far, as for FP idk what its capabilities are know if it any good or not. DJs for me win by default cuz Ive been around it and know what it does and my instructor whos had other dynos and runs his own business for it swears by DJ. FP might be good i jus have no experience from it.
 
Right, not saying DJ is bad, but vastly different approach from FP. FP uses a 4 or 5 gas analyzer, vs. only an O2 sniffer. It is much more expensive to get into an FP set up, but the benefit to the business owner is less time on the dyno to acheive a similar/better result.

But look up how DJ determined what 100 hp equaled back in the '80s. It was all based on the then new Vmax and the expect hp output from the bike. It's an interesting tidbit; hence the reason one adds 15% to 17% to FP numbers to equal DJ numbers.

For example, my stock 1125R put out 118hp at the wheel on an FP, considered low by in the Buell world because most 1125Rs make anywhere between 127 and 136 stock on a DJ. Fully tuned with a custom exhaust, etc. my 1125 put out 126 on an FP, a true 126.

Regardless, it is different takes a solving the same problem. As long as the rider/customer is happy it's all good.

True, and many DJ dealers with newer equipment are tuning with these now. There are some that use the older inertia-dynos which is not a good way to set the maps up.

I do think the FP setup has the advantage with 4/5 gas analysis vs O2 only as Hellgate mentioned, assuming the tuner knows how to use the data. In particular the other gasses can indicate timing issues, or cylinder stagger problems. O2 only is usually an average of the 4 cylinders. I will say I visited one DJ tuner who made a probe that could be slid into each header tube to allow individual cylinder tuning.

I suspect that some bikes are more sensitive to tune than others so maybe it is more or less of a concern for a given bike.

Agreed, the 2 companies do derive their hp numbers differently. I myself do like DJ but i will look more into FP since they seem to have more accurate technology. But i guess i could understand DJ in a business aspect. The public wants BIG numbers and it seems that DJ does so that. With FP its more accurate but the people arent getting the numbers they want to see. So DJ kinda gives the public the numbers they want pullin ratio(s) and numbers from the O2 sniffer. And getting numbers from just that I can see how numbers can be a little higher than one that has multiple analyzers.
