Chilly ride home...

Well, we finally got a bike for my wife. Her birthday is on Tuesday, so I'm calling this her birthday gift. I have a fairly good suspicion that Beknatok and Gemini77 both picked up their FZ6's the same day from the same dealer. We picked it up at about 3:30 and it was a little over a 50 mile ride home. The only thing cold on me was my chin!

I washed it this morning to get the salt off, and now it's sharing a space with my '07 V-Star 1100.

Actually, I'm pure Dutch, but my great grandparents came over on the boats, and I don't speak but a few words of the old language. Actually, Vanderploeg is quite a common Dutch name as it means "of the plow".

I somehow missed this a couple of days back. I'm curious do you spell your surname all joined up or as they do in Holland "Van der Ploeg"? I've had a few colleages with that surname.

Actually, I spell it Vanderploeg, and most of the other Vanderploeg's that I've met (There are actually 2 others that work in the same school district as myself) spell it the same way. There is also another gentlemen that works in the same building as me that is Vanderplow. Obviously his name was changed when his ancestors passed through immigration.

I suppose that would solve the telephone directory problems, here in Holland it would be found under Ploeg, van der.

It's an entirely different feeling. I do like how light and nimble it is. Compared to my V-Star, it seems like going through curves only requires looking through the curve and no real steering input. The only thing I don't like so far is the rear visibility from the mirrors. I have fairly broad shoulders, but I find it's really my elbows that get in the way. I guess the only way to fix this would be to put on bar end mirrors.

Her bike, starts off slow, and turns into a rocket.

My bike, pulls like a Mack truck, but lacks the top end.
