Weird question, but bear with me

I'm gonna try and make this simple, LOL: I've got FZ1 bars on my '06 FZ6. My FZ1 bars are threaded on the ends and accept the stock FZ6 bar ends. I'm doing the Buell conversion in a couple weeks and going with bar end mirrors and I found bar ends that are specially made with a groove for the bar end mirrors and they have the threaded ends like the stock FZ6 bar ends. The problem? They're for a R1 and R6.

The question is...does anyone know if the threads on R1 and R6 bar ends is the same as FZ1 and FZ6 bar ends? In other words, could I just screw these right in to my FZ1 handlebars?

I am not completely positive but here is my logic.

All bars are 7/8" diameter whether they are clip on, handle bar, what have you. similarly the R6, R1, FZ1, and FZ6 bars should all be made by Yamaha or the same company who produces them for Yamaha. so, Check the part number for OEM bar ends for Yamaha sport bikes and see if they all use the same bar end. If so then you know the threads are the same inside the bar and they should be interchangeable. Good luck.

Awesome, guys! Thanks for the replies and links! That's gonna help a ton and FZ1inNH, I really like those bar ends you posted. I may have to take a look at those, as I'm fairly certain bar end mirrors like the CRG ones will clamp around the smaller area.

Here's another question that someone here at work raised. How hard would it be to have a machinist mill the stock bar ends down to 7/8", just on the part that sits next to the handlebar, leaving the outer portion of the stock bar end intact? The CRG mirrors only need 3/8" of width to mount (and I don't want to have to move the controls in to mount them on the bars), so this might be a viable option.

I'll have to check the Yellow Pages and see where I can find a machinist around here...

For the right machinist, not a huge deal. I'd even have him cut a grove closer to the middle of the bar end if the mirror mount is a two-piece , then it can't move to either side at all.

Wow...I never thought about the possibility of having the grove in the middle of the bar end as opposed to one end. Now that really intrigues me! That would definitely be rock solid and you wouldn't have to worry about the mirror falling off...lol.

I'll see what I can find out (since I know literally NOTHING about machinists or how to find one) and report back. Should be interesting!
