Finally got around to installing my alarm/remote start today(at least the remote start part). I feel like a kid on Christmas. I'm sure my battery will be dead tomorrow as I've tried it out about 1,000 times.

What are the advantages of having a remote start on the bike? I have a panic button on my alarm but not the remote start.
Have you removed the ignition barrel as well?

How do you keep it secure? What I mean is, where I used to live. If your bike was running and you weren't on it it would be gone......... My insurance states that if the bike is running and its nicked I will also lose.

wow! i can only think of drawbacks really!

1) you have killed off the immobiliser, if the imobiliser key isnt needed for starting the bike, im guessing its not a good thing

2) if you have put a gear and turn it on, its fallzies for the bike

3) why would you want your bike to be turned on remotely? first of all, someone could highjack your signal and replicate it, secondly,

4) i find as much use for that, as a remote controlled faucet.

Bikes sold in the USA don't have immobilizers. The bike won't start if it's in gear. Your steering is still locked so no one is going to hop on and ride your bike away. Every car I own has a remote start, and as of yet noone has "hijacked" my signal.

If you don't have use for it then don't install one.

I have a remote starter on my car that's 2-way; it will tell you that it's running -- will this do same? It sounds like a beeyatch to install (my car is stick shift and you have to do extra stuff to get it to work so you don't remote start in gear).

The alarm I bought came with a remote start function so why not? Nothing was removed to install the starter including the iginition barrel. It functions just like a car remote starter. It's all electronic

This one is not two way, but you can get them that way. The instilation is certainly not for the faint of heart.
