Economic Stimulus Package

Okay so I heard the talking heads on Bloomberg talking about what the economic stimulus package might be. About $400 for a single person, $800 for a couple, and another $400 per child. So I'd get a check for $1,200. Being the patriotic American that I am, I could spend it on an Ohlins rear shock, or I could put it in my son's 529...decisions, decisions....gotta help save the economy after all!

I'm not even going to discuss the folly of this plan, its out of my hands after all, so it they send me my money back I'll take it. I wonder if I have to declare it as income for 2008???

well, this plan is a band aid at best but as you said, if I get a check from Uncle Sam i am sure i'll cash it at the bank. It sounds like they are already cutting it back though, when they first proposed it there was supposed to be $800 for single and $1600 per couple.

Buy an adjustable R1 shock for around $50 and invest the rest...best of both worlds.

I do believe that the government wants us all to spend what we get so it will boost the economy. Now the trick will be to convince Mrs. Scrooge (my wife) to let me spend the money!

According to the usual goggle-box oracles, yes, the government DOES want everyone to spend what they get. (It works for the gummint, right? ).
75% of the US economy is consumer based, apparently....that's a bit of a shocker if it's true.

If they have the means to give every working american even $200 they should give my brothers and sisters in the military a pay raise! I'll give mine up for that to happen.
