Older than you look

What wrong with high school girls ... hahaha

Have the same "problem". Now you hate it, when you're almost 30 you'll love it !!!

I used to be mistaken for younger. In fact, when I was 20, in college, I was mentoring a student at a local middle school. I was stopped int he hall and asked for a pass. I showed my University ID and visitor pass and with a chuckle, was let go.

When I started working at the high school (at 24), I was also stopped in the hall. Wasn't asked for a pass, but there was an obvious look of "You don't look young enough to go here or old enough to work here" on the Asst. Principal's face.

Now, everyone thinks I'm the older one in my marriage (I'm 2 years younger than Rob.....) and I hardly get carded for anything.....what a difference a couple years in a high stress job makes... I doubt anyone I meet would guess that I am under 30, but I still have 3 years to go. I like to think that most if it is that I carry myself older than I am, and I don't act as immature as I used to, but I know the smile lines and gray hairs don't help.

Well today I turned 23, and people still think I'm 18 or 19 years old, they don't believe me until I show them my drivers license, I don't drink or smoke, I know thats part of the reason, but damn it gets annoying having high school girls trying to flirt with you all the time. Is this age thing a curse or a blessing.

I teach high school so I deal with issues all the time. I had this same scenario with some of my kids. I took them to a assisted living facility to help volunteer. They said that was one on the best experiences of their life. I think they had a different outlook after that and appreciation of helping others.

Try 1964 !

Same year as me Mick. I whenever I'm asked for my ID I either show them my military ID and tell them I have amlost 20 years in, or I make them play the guessing game. One waiter guessed 22! I was 43 at the time. I started laughing and she turned red.

Dude that's normal for your age bracket. A lot of people think my wife is in her 20's and gets carded for adult beverages and cigs. And she is old enough to be your mother.

It seems there are alot of us perceived young uns around.

I went to a casino with friends who were a bit younger than me. I was the first to be pointed out to show ID when entering the place. Before giving the guy my ID, I asked how old he thought I was? He said not even 18...I was 24!

It actually seemed to get worse from there. At 25 I got out of grad school and got a job with a school where my office was located at the Jr. High (7th to 9th grade). On Friday's we are allowed to wear jeans and I would sometimes get a tray from the cafeteria at lunch. The lunch lady would always shout down the line that a teacher's tray is needed. For a couple of years they would look up and down the line and say - Where? I would then raise my hand very embarrassingly. :Flash:

I think the stress of working a full time job for 4 years is finally letting me look closer to my true age. It used to bother me alot when people thought I was younger. Made me feel like I must not be a "woman". But, I was also often told that I carried myself older than I was but just looked younger. I've decided that I will definitely enjoy looking 30 when I'm actually 40!

I got carded up until I was 38 yrs old... thus I always appeared younger than my age... Then the hair started going totally silver. Now I don't get carded any longer...

I'm freakin' old! (But not as old as Mick and Pete by one year! :D )

And I act more like the kids! ;)

Thank you Keira!

BTW, when Michele met you two, she thought Rob was 24-25 and you were 21-22!

I get that too and I'm just shy of 31. :D One day I'll use this to my advantage to snag a cougar who's been widowed and then she can fund my motorcycle addiction. ;)

+1 I would love to be a trophy husband. I am 25 and people still think i am around 18 especially when I get my hair cut i look really young

I used to work on a Psych Unit...
We had this really sweet lady she was 72 and had a schizophreniform disorder.
I was working with her one day and she asked me, "Hey Honay, when are ya gonna move to state hospital with me and marry me?"
I told her I was married and one of the nurses said I may be a little young for her.
She said, "nah, he's just a few years younger"
I asked her how old she thought I was.
She said, "Honay!!! You are a very sexy 57"....

I was 29... Ouch...

Enjoy your young looks, you will appreciate it when you are my age. And keep up no smoking or drinking too.. I took my son to the grocery store a couple of years ago, he was 17.. I made a comment to the cashier and said, every time I take him it costs me more money, she said, yeah I don't take my husband either... I said, OH that isn't my husband, it is my son, she was shocked.

:needpics:

Do I really look like a friggin 18 year old?

Enjoy it and just ignore the young girls. As time goes on, you'll miss these days. Time has a way of catching up with us, just wait and see.

I'm 41 now and most people think I'm in my late 20's which really does feel good. Most people would say I'm younger if I had hair. I prefer the baldness, especially now that it doesn't grow like it use to (smile).

So, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy and have funny being some ladies toy.

Let me get this straight.............you don't want high school girls flirting with you

Wait till you get to my age,you will wish you hadn't said that ,lol

You know what I like best about Highschool girl's??? I get older and they stay the same age............Allright.......:D

Look at my profile pic. Me and my wife are both 40 and she looks 10 years younger than me. Most people guess her age to be 28.
