Headline in today's Utah newspaper: the state Senate just approved, 27-1, of getting rid of Utard's "private club" law! It now goes to the House, and they have to vote on it before Thursday, when the annual Legislative session ends. If this passes, you will then be able to enter any bar in Utard without "joining" their membership, filling out forms, and paying a membership fee.
I've lived here 14 years now. Can This Actually be Happening???
We have two more days. What usually happens is the mormon "cult" (I refuse to call them a church) will issue an "opinion" on such matters, and then the Legislature (95% mormon thanks to carefully-cultivated gerrymandering) will vote as they're told, er, "suggested".
We'll see. They finally banned smoking in clubs this year; if they ban "memberships" I may actually start going to see live music again.
