Im Alive

I was waitng for that question.
I was wearing a shoei helmet
A* apex gloves
A* Gortex boots
FT XTI leather jacket with armour
FT xti h2o pants with knee armour
and clean underwear

I strongly suggest wearing gear all the time. my friends always have to wait for me to gear up. they will be patient for now on.

I thought about talking to a lawyer but i wasnt sure if i needed to. i guess i need to speak to someone with experience.

Clean underwear - you cracked me up with that comment!

Glad to hear you are on the mend!!! :cheer:

Glade to hear you okay......and if you havent had surgery b4 im telling ya it is the ebst sleep you will get lol. but any way make sure you get everything you can from the lady that pulled infront of you......well thats at least what i would. But as stated b4 get a good lawyer and dont sign or except anything with out one....Good luck with everything and i wish you a speedy recovery.

Just seeing this now! Heal up man and props for wearing your gear!!! Tell your friends, "real men and women wear gear". :D Also, any idea how your leg got cut? Did it bleed a ton? I once had the pleasure of ripping open the inside of my calf and exposing the bone...it bled like crazy for a few minutes and then just stopped...it also took a long time to clean and stitch.

Anyway, take it easy!

Glad your ok man. sucks about the bike but your still here so all is fixable. Really really really glad your ok.

Get lawyer.
Ask for every reciept for every medical procedure you have done. make copies. Once you settle any medical bills the insurance comapany has been playing ping pong with the medical companies with become your problem. So they play hella ping pong and the hospitals play along.

I hate to say it this way, and I know from experince, and I am sorry if it offends anyone in the insurance industry. They are out to screw you out of every dime they can get. I dont care how friendly and nice they seem. If there is a way to not pay for something they wont.

Heal up quick man.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I dont feel so well right now and the pharmacy is giving me **** for trying to get my pressrptions. I will gladly resume responing tomorrow.

Wheeww... glad to hear you're in quite a good mood. Ughh. I'm sure you have much to thankful for during this holiday season!

Get well bud.

Wow man, the title says it all. Glad to hear that you are still here. Heal up quick and get back out there!

Are you getting another FZ6?

You bet i am! I just want to make sure i can salvage my mods for a future bike. Then again she should pay for all new stuff.:spank:

Well i got my pain killers. what a relief.

Having a lawyer represent you is your best option on multiple levels:
- they will make sure you take care of your injuries properly and don`t get rushed into making any decision,
- they will tell you what to do and when to do it,
- they will make sure you don`t get screwed by the other party's insurance, lawyer, or even your own insurance (they will try to close the case as quickly as possible, even if you`re their customer),
- they will try to reduce all your medical bills, and work with your own motorcycle/health insurances to get them to pay more,
- they will make sure you get fully covered for your property damage (bike) and negotiate a proper \"pain and suffering\" package for you...

I discovered this whole process recently myself, and I have to say there are so many ways you can screw yourself or get screwed, it`s very scary... they know every loop hole, every trick in the book to make sure you are properly covered, plus, they give you a piece of mind, which is important, so you can focus on getting better, and not stress over all the bs involved in the aftermath. They`re expensive, but they`re worth every penny imo.

Was there a police report? Was the other party issued a ticket? Don`t talk to your insurance or anyone about the accident... have your lawyer do that for you (you can talk about the property damage with your insurance, but not the accident itself).
Also, get your lawyer to check the other party's insurance coverage, so you can see right away what you`ll be working with... typically, if indeed the other party is confirmed to be at fault, the overall $$ package should be about 3 times the cost of all your medical bills... so if you end up with $10k in medical bills, the other party will have to pay out $30k... then the $30k is divided into 3 equal parts... one to pay the medical bills, one to pay the laywer bills and the last one to cover your pain and suffering. This excludes the property damage package (for your bike).
Of course all that depends on what coverage the other party has, along with your own coverage... if they only have $15k liability coverage, that`s all you`ll be able to get from their insurance, unless the other party is very rich and you want to sue them directly.... or if you have uninsured or underinsured coverage on your own... do you have medpay? it's very good to have that as well, as it can be used to get cash in your pocket right away to cover the early medical bills you`ll be getting (before the case is settled you`ll have to start payments yourself)...

Keep us updated and let us know if you have questions... I am still settling my case here as well, and I`ve learnt quite a lot lately, so I`ll do what I can to help if I can.

Good luck!

There will be a police report in 8-9 days the CHP said. As for her getting a ticket im not sure. i was in the ambulance by then. And the ins has already tried to get me to give a recorded statement. the lawyer told me not to do that so i told the ins. that i wasnt feeling well enough to talk. Thanks for all the useful info. I should be getting some pics soon.

Wow, that's a big crash.....as everyone else has said, glad your ok, hope you get to keep all your mods.

Glad to hear you're semi-ok and most you're alive and can post now. Looking forward to hear you're riding again soon. I wish you have a speedy recovery and be safe. Don't think of doing anything without a lawyer....

I hope she has really good insurance. I need new riding gear. once the cast comes off and i get my strength back i want to get some advanced riding classes set up. i want those emergency manuevers to be second nature.
Im not saying thats what i needed and would have made a difference but it will surely be valuable to me.

I reckon any extra riding training you can get, the better, have been riding 20 years myself, and stilkl think i have heaps to learn....in fact, i am researching available advanced rider training courses in my part of the world as we speak.....gotta do as much as we can to protect ourselves from the huge amount of poor inattentive car cage drivers.
