Rode a Hypermotard yesterday

I was at a Ducati dealership poking around when the sales guy asked me if I wanted to test ride the motard. Damn straight!

The motor was definitely strong but unfortunately I don't think I liked it as much as the FZ (or Daytona for that matter). The position felt too upright - I was too much on top of the bike instead of in it, and the foot controls were tight (perhaps they are adjustable, forgot to check). Maybe it was because I had been riding the 675 all day but I just couldn't get comfortable on it. Too bad because I thought it was definitely a contender for next ride. Call me crazy...

The Ducati Hypermotard looks awesome...what was the power like compared to the FZ6, or Triumph...in fact, what's the power of the Triumph like compared to the FZ6...been wondering that for a while, since all the hype about the upspec Srtteet triple broke cover.

I would also like to hear the difference in power between the FZ6 and Daytona 675.

I've been in admiration of those Triumph 675 cc 3 cylinder motors, and I'm curious to see how they compare with the Inline 4 cylinder FZ6 motor.

The differences are as you'd expect, more torque on the Triumph. But on the street it's all how you ride it. I stay in the higher revs on the FZ most of the time, but can get power from the Daytona nearly everywhere.

The biggest difference, and why I have both, is the riding position. The FZ has to be one of, if not the most comfortable sportbikes out there. On the D I'm much more in the bike, and it seems to be less forgiving, i.e. more responsive to input. I love them both. A lot of people have sore wrists and stuff on the Daytona but aside from the occasional finger numbing (which never happens on the FZ) I find it pretty comfortable. Definitely worth it for the change of pace.

Oh, I didn't mention the sound of the motor. That alone would get me to buy the street triple.

I rode a hyper this spring, and you most definitly sit up nice and high on it, similar to a dirtbike. I thought it was a blast, but I've also been riding dirtbikes forever.

I agree with others though that the FZ is the most comfy sportbike out there :rockon:
