I am a very young 40, and loving it!!!!

Dad used to take me to watch racing when I was a kid in the UK - grew up watching Barry Sheene and Mick Grant. Dad used to own a Triumph Bonneville but sold it when he and mum started a family (I don't think he's ever really forgiven me :spank: ) Met my husband when I was 17 and he too had the bike bug - perfect match. Started riding at 28 - had a beautiful Kawasaki Z250. Got busy and didn't ride it much - sold it.

Watched my husband go through 2 x Kawasaki ZX6, Honda SP1, Triumph Daytona 675, Yamaha XJR1300 - got sick of being a pillion and sat my Learners permit (in Western Australia you have to have a 250cc licence for 12 months RE class, then you can sit your R class - any capacity motorbike) and started riding our Yamaha DT175.
When I outrode this, my husband bought me a Honda CBF250 for Xmas last year.

As soon as I passed my RE class, I couldn't wait to get something with a little more power. Saw the FZ6 at the local Yamaha dealership when I was getting lessons - love at first sight - went back and she was still there. Bought her on the spot. :D

In June I sit my R class which means I can ride my baby without a bright yellow L plate on and without a shadow. I can't wait.

Our family has increased since then - 09 Triumph Speed Triple. Maybe one day he will let me ride her.....

I wish I started riding young instead of at 24, that is why the boy already has a bike! I'm sure one of the girls will enjoy riding with daddy, we need more young girls getting into riding for sure!

Good luck!

Lambretta GP150 scooter and my first wheelies, this is when the 'ooligan was born age 15 or 16.
Honda 90 stepthrough. Oh the joys of commuting to work at 17yo.
1978 Honda XL250. Oh the joys of riding completely baked through the most beautiful summer I ever remember.
Maico 400 stroker dirt bike, and what a bastard it was too.
Yamaha 400 stroker trailie, can't remember the model, and I lived in Greece.
Honda CX500. Should have been called the Honda Tractor. Wouldn't break and I finally gave it to a guy who was going to ride it too Alaska

Currently:-

1971 Triumph Trophy 500
1982 Suzuki GS750
1974 Honda Xl350
2000 Honda VFR800fi (Oh, what a peach of a bike! And bought on impulse.)

I've done all the basic maintenance on all of the bikes Ive owned inc. tyre changes, as well as some wiring, stator and rotor replacements, chain replacements, carb strips on the Suzuki, XL350 and the Triumph, fork seals on four or five of 'em, brakes, complete engine strip and rebuild on the Triumph as well as sundry other mundane chores I've forgotten about.

MSF Rider Coach for the last three years.

Total miles= A whole bunch in the UK, USA and Europe.

Accidents= 1 on the street.

52yo, love to go fast and leaned waaaaaaaay over, never been to a track (more's the pity!).

I am TOTALLY jonesing for the springtime, and decent riding weather.

My first post and this seems like a good place to start.

I'm nearly 39 years old and have been riding for about 11 years. I had my license for two years prior to that, but didn't use it. I have had 2 accidents and broke my leg in one. That one was my fault, the second was the typical car turning left.

Started on an '84 Honda Sabre 700
then '80 Gold Wing Interstate 1100, at the same time picked up a '97 Suzuki Intruder 800.
Currently I own an '07 FZ6 and a '96 KZ1000P. Thats the police model, in case you are wondering.
The Intruder is still in my garage, but not currently running. One of those "I'll get around to it one day things."
I have also spent a good deal of time riding BMW R1100/1150RTPs. Again the Police model, although I have never actually owned one.
I ride rain or shine. Sacramento does not have a "real" winter. I have lived in Montreal and New Brunswick, Canada, so I know what real winters are.
Last year the combined milage on my bikes was about 13K. My truck, in comparison, got about 3K.
When I worked a "nomal" job I commuted on a bike nearly every day.
Riding is now my primary occupation. I escort funeral processions. Yes I use a 600 pound motorcycle to stop 4000 pound cars. (hence the police bike)I did this part time starting in 2007 since the first part of this year, do it full time, and am having a blast.
I will freely admit that my mechanical abilities are sorely lacking, Although I do know the basics.

I'm a person who is definitely mechanically inclined. I'm an ASE certified technician in engine repair and brake repair (for cars trucks and vans), and halfway through a degree in automotive engineering.
However when it comes to motorcycles, I'm just starting on my first one, so i'm a total noob in this arena.

My first real "riding" experience was about 10 years ago on a Ninja 600. After my brother got married, he stopped using his bike. We fixed it and I got on it, I was all into it's sound... So, on a parking lot, I put it in first gear started to hear the sound of the engine and simply released the clotch. I still don't know how come I did not let the bike down and did not hit anything!!!!!

After that, and being busy with so many things and recovering from a herniated disk (lumbar area) I had the opportunity of starting to learn with a friends bike (summer last year) and last week I got my first bike the day I turned 36.

I started learning on a GSX500, then my friend got a GSX650F (which I've been able to ride some more) and my bike 2009 FZ6 now has about 70 miles.

I did the basic training curse late in November, last year.

Now, everyday I learn something new and I'm eager to get on the bike and ride

david, i'm pretty close to that myself. my girls were both born in june. one will be 4 this year and the other will be two. i keep telling my wife that i need to get a little dirt bike for the girls... and well then i would naturally need one for myself. :D not sure she's buying it that i really want to do it for them ;)

last summer i was able to put my oldest (then 3 - in case you couldn't do the math) on the pillion and take her around the backyard. it was pretty cool. we put her "snow" boots, bicycle helmet and some sorta little jacket for her riding gear. she loved it. she recently mentioned it and wants to do it again soon since summer is rolling around again. maybe there's hope for her.

Nothing terribly impressive. Bought a 2000 Honda Shadow last year. Rode it until now. Sold it and bought an FZ. The shadow was too slow and too restrictive. Even with saddlebags I couldn't take off and leave for the day. Always had to stay close to home due to its lack of any sort of storage and impracticality. I can't wait to get some hard bags and tank bag for my FZ and make a few 4-500 mile over nighters.

There is a lot of mis-info on any website.

Just because I claim to have this resume:

1969 Kawasaki 120
1976 Kawasaki KZ650
1986? Honda V45 Sabre
2002 Honda VFR800
2009 Yamaha FZ6

doesn't make me credible.

Don't take my word. Do your research.

Bob H ....62 years old....been riding simce age 16 for 48 straight years. Please don't confuse me with a born again biker who rode as a teenager...and decided to ride again 35 years later. I have owned 67 - 68 motorcycles. I made a list once...but i lost it on a computer crash. I doubt i can remember them all anymore.

Factory trained motorcycle mechanic. Attended Yamaha...Suzuki..and BMW service schools.....11 years bike mechanic...3 years service manager. Been working on bikes privately for 35 years.

AFM club roadracer in the early 70's....worst finish was sixth.....and most finishes were second place. Started with a production class 750 Honda K1....and went to a 73 Yamaha RD 350....and finished the short career with a Yamaha TA 125 factory roadracer. Raced 100% in California and moslly at Infinion Raceway...which back then was called Sears Point Raceway. I had great success racing...but didn't have the money to continue like i wanted. I rode street while i roadraced...and still ride street today. I still do an occasional track day....but i mostly like riding the twisties in the Mountains of Georgia....where i've been since 1985.

Last few bikes were....Daytona 675...Suzuki DL 650...Honda 919.....07 Yamaha FZ6. ...and three scooters.....all Yamaha Zumas.

I own my own business restoring vintage motorcycle gauges. My relaxation comes from buiding naked bikes...modding bikes and scooters.....and just tinkering out in the garage.
