I too, have fallen from the dark side to the light. (I mean installing the additional wire so both my "eyes" are lit full time.) I want to send out a special thank you to BD43:cheer: for fabricating the wire, sending it promptly and including the great instructions for it's installation. It was a snap to do, even for a mechanical expert/electrical NOOB like me. It was a pleasure dealing with you and your product.:rockon:

Now, can anybody tell me why Yamaha has the loom made for this wire, uses a connector for the headlight that has a preformed access for the wire and blade connector and then leaves the wire out of the loom so our bikes "look funny" to the non-motorcyclists out there?

There are a few threads on here that have more information but what I've learned is this:

some (reported) studies have been done that showed it was safer if one headlight was out because it made it more obvious to oncoming traffic that the vehicle is a motorcycle and not a car that is far off.

I haven't done any research into this so I can't comment, but I'm not that worried about it. I've passed a few cars waiting to make a left at night and haven't had a problem yet (obviously I've done the mod). It's just something to look out for whether or not you have both headlights on.

It's also difficult to quantify the reasons for motorcycle collisions with four-wheeled vehicles since people will often make excuses that may not tell the whole truth. The excuse "I didn't see the motorcycle" is the most obvious example of this. Being visible can help without a doubt, but often people didn't see the motorcycle because they weren't paying attention at all.
