Wife's First Long Distance FZ6 Trip

So after my wife having her motorcycle endorsement for five years, I finally convinced her to do an overnight trip. We just returned from a 3 day trip through Jackson Wyoming, Teton and Yellowstone Nation Parks.

I did my best to turn her 07 FZ6 into a mini version of my FJR1300. She did great and mostly enjoyed the adventure. She is still not real wild about dodging the the big trucks on the freeway but hopefully will get more comfortable with time.

Congrats on the 1st long distance/overnight ride. :thumbup: Beautiful looking backdrop to that third pick. I live life at sea level. Thanks for the pics.
 
Thanks for the pics! It great to get her out on trips! My wife rides too! She's more enthusiastic about it though and always willing to travel. I hope that with time, your wife finds the same excitement in it! You've conquered the first hurdle!

The slab can be intimidating. Try and stick to routes that avoid the slab and cover some scenery. She'll be less apprehensive and enjoy the trip more. It takes longer to get to and from your destination but the rewards are great!

She has both. She wore the gloves most of the time. I bought her a nice $250.00 pair or riding boots that I ended up carrying in my saddlebags most of the trip because she said her hikers where more comfortable. I was just glad to have her along so I didn't want to scare her with the what if you crash scenario.

I hear you on not pushing too hard on everything all at once - the first long/overnight trip can be pretty stressful (I remember b/c mine wasn't that long ago). The good news is everybody was safe and the "what if" that gear is for was just that.

Congrats to your wife! Hubby talked me into my first overnight trip this year too. We drove for 10.5 hours on Friday to get to "Sportbike" in Parry Sound. 2008 Parry Sound Sportbike Rally Then it took us 9.5 hours to get back home. The feeling of accomplishment was incredible. (As was the pain) After we got to the hotel we sat in the hot tub for an hour lol
 
The boots generally do take a while to break in. First time in mine I almost fell over at stops, and half the time couldn't shift. I quickly resolved not to wear them on long trips until they were broken in. They're coming along pretty well now though. They were on the tight side (only came in whole sizes and the next size was humongous and had to be returned), so I took out the sole inserts and the size is now fine. When they're broken in I'll put the inserts back. Nice pics. It must be great to be able to ride together. Be well. -p.

Make sure she reads all these reports as well. Just a couple of comments.

Lovely bike the 1300 but why would you want to change the FZ6, it is a great touring bike. Especially for a woman because of the weight.

She has a 250 dollar pair of gloves and a new set of biking boots and she wears them ....sometimes....The road is a lover of sharp boney bits on your body and can wear them away to nothing in the blink of an eye...especially inexperienced riders..I know because I have been there. Ankle bones get chewed right off and get her some knee pads even if it is skateboard pads that go over the jeans.

It lloked like a great ride with fantastic scenery and well done to her for getting out there. None of us like those big vehicles whizzing by but we have to live with that.

The downside to biking is that you HAVE TO wear the safety gear, its a bummer but the alternative is far worse.
