Whoorling noise!

So about a 3 weeks ago after I hosed down my bike i found out one of the spark plug caps had worn and was letting water in. When they were wet i experienced major loss of power, frequent stalling and a very loud whoorling noise almost like a whisteling from the front end when riding, i can hear it mainly when desellerating and pulling in the clutch.

I got the cap changed and everything had fixed ecxept for this whoorling noise, its very loud and very annoying! any ideas? FZ600 s2 2009

Chain lube, chain slack or chain alignment?

I dont think its that, I've got a Scot oiler so it's nice and oiled and it's no slack at all!

No slack or no more than the recommended 2 inches?

Mine has a recommended 1 inch of slack? What martini say it was 2?

The Owners Manual says 1.77-2.17 in. You may have looked at the digram that has a 1 above the chain and thought they meant 1in.

Yup you need 1 3/4" to just over 2" of slack. It's a lot. But that's what yammie wants.

If its too tight, it WILL make that noise, besides being very hard on the rear hub bearing and chain...

Clean and LUBE the chain before adjusting it at its TAUGHTEST POINT on the centerstand.. I've found 2" TOTAL, UP AND DOWN to be good...

Just an FYI, after a wash (wich is when the problem started) or riding in the rain, the chain NEEDS to be re-lubed, (its in the owners manual).

Also, just a little bit of Di-lectric grease on the plug rubber caps(on the edge where the rubber meets the valve cover), makes installation MUCH easier and also HELPS to keep water out of the out / near the plugs.

You'll also literally hear, the plug wire snap onto the plug. No doubt its fully on the plug... :thumbup:
