When trying to stay low key...

I have learned a few lessons today... While on my never ending quest to find a new job... i learned about a big job fair for a local government base (BRAC, to anyone who might have heard about it) its a large scale movement of jobs from north carolina to maryland... mainly Aberdeen Proving Ground... now seeing as i live about 2 miles from Aberdeen Proving ground... and i wouldnt mind a high paying job, with great benifits, thats a gov job (so you know there isnt much work involved) i thought to myself... i should check this out....
So i told a little white lie... (not so much a lie, but just said i needed a "personal" day) and took the day off to check it out... Little did i know after waiting in line for 45 min here they come... ABC news... Fantastic... throw my face all over the evening news for my boss to see... not only that but the idiots set up shop like 8 feet away!! Pointed thier little camera right at me and started to tape... DAMMMIT... oh well.. after watching the news they only had me 3 TIMES! not only that but during one of the interviews... the girl asked how she new me.. then realized that she knew me because she has been in our shop many times and knows my boss personally... fantastic II... this is gonna be fun going back to work tomorrow :thumbup:

Hopefully your boss won't watch the news and maybe the girl will keep her mouth shut.

You're on the right track with those civil service jobs. 20 years to guaranteed retirement, good medical/dental plans, annual leave, and it's usually recession-proof.

They'll only punish you if they're already looking for a reason to.

In fact they might even give you a raise or something to keep you

My new guvmint job, which I accepted in December, has had me working 10-12 hour days, 6 days a week. It's been worth it though, my last job had really become a boring routine.

What SovietRobot said; if you're worth your salt, and your boss sees you on TV, a raise and few extra bennies may be headed your way. :thumbup:

didnt go... woke up at 12am with a 102 fever and didnt get to fall asleep until 6am... i have been lurking around the house like a 90 year old man all day
