Whee, it's WINDY today!

Was looking forward to spending the day today zipping all over the Wasatch Mountains, nice and warm but it's WINDY today! I decided to get laundry done instead, so after each load I put into the washer, I jump on the bike and just ride around the neighborhood, getting used to being blown sideways 6 feet at a time! Good practice though, and safer in the local neighborhood on a Saturday afternoon. I guess the wind affects you more at slow speed, too, so that's also good practice.
Got a package from Aerostich this morning, among other goodies I got a small rectangular thermometer/hygrometer that looked like it'd mount perfectly on those flat areas above the headlight wells, and it attached easy with foam tape. The flat black made it look like it was made for the bike, and it was easy to read. Well, it only held on about two blocks, I saw it fly off, saw it bounce two times on the road, and saw it get run over by the car behind me.

It's really windy here in the So. Cal. desert too. I couldn't get out for a ride either. I have a friend in Eagle Mountain Ut, and he was upset he couldn't go golfing. Damn the wind!!!!

Its been pretty bad here in north Texas to for the last couple of months. It seems when theres a nice day to ride its windy.

At least its Warm enough there to ride... We are still fighting the cold and rainy weather here.. the past couple of days/maybe a week.. has been nice in the afternoon, but in the morning on my ride home from work.. Brrrrrrr luckly its only a 5 mile ride..

The most scary moment on my new FZ6 last year was when a sudden powerful gust of wind (I would guess 50mph+) blew across the freeway off the water from my right. It took me by suprise, and almost blew me into the median. It seemed no matter how much I counter-steered and leaned, my bike kept moving left. I guess there really is no "defense" other than quick reactions.

Pretty windy here all weekend. Supposed to get rain/snow mix tonight. Did get the yardwork done yesterday (it needed it). Today is laundry/clean the house day.
I was going to change the spark plugs in the bike yesterday but when I went to the dealer to pick them up they only had 2 left so I'll have to wait 'til next week when they get some more in stock.

Well, the toilets are calling me so I'd better grab the bleach and get to work.....

Thats the thing about So-Cal. The weather will be so beautiful and warm but the damn wind makes it unridable. I damn near got blown of the freeway a few months back as well. Like OneTrack said, no matter how much I leaned, the bike just kept drifting.

Well, I figured out why the thermometer didn't stick. I'd just washed the bike Friday night, so I didn't think I'd need to clean the area where the tape went. BUT, all that wind put a good layer of dust all over the bike, which I discovered this morning when I jumped on to back it up in the carport. d'Oh!
