What's the down side for you after losing weight?

I have lost 30 pounds. My summer weight riding jacket is now too big. Too bad I will have to go shopping for a new one with my recently acquired birthday money. :D

I can't comment as I have not gained or lost more than 5 lbs from age 19 - 34. :D
Bloody show off, My gut was more of an investment in fermented Barley and Hopps.

I should have at least a position on the board of Stella Artois.

:banghead: amazing how we always manage to go off topic so quickly:thumbup:

I'm having trouble staying warm, too, after losing just about 40 pounds.

But the hardest part, at least initially, was losing the padding in the rear. No matter what I sat on, my bum bones hurt. And I sit all day for work. Things toughened up after a few months, thank goodness.

I'd still rather be chilly than chubby.

Ah, man. I probably lost about 20 pounds or so in the last year or so. "Relationship weight" I called it (half joking). At first I was super stoked I could squeeze into my leather motorcycle jacket again, and then too much wind started getting into it while riding the bike because I lost more...it's not the most expensive jacket ($20 from a friend, but sturdy & reliable). Also, I had to buy smaller jeans. My helmet still fits OK, at least. :D

and then too much wind started getting into it while riding the bike because I lost more...

Exactly what happens when I wear my old leather jacket now! It was fine in the colder months because I would wear a collared sweater and balaclava. Now that it's t-shirt weather, the wind just goes right in and down. It has been replaced with a hot looking A* GP Plus perforated jacket for the Summer :D

Worst part of the day: taking the first chair up. Not warmed up yet and you just sit there completely exposed to the elements. Usually gets better as the day progresses, but some days are so cold.. you just never really warm up.

When you fall down as much as I do, you're getting a work out and sweating your butt off!

Gratz on the weight loss Nelly! I'm working on dropping a few pounds myself.

...
Anyone else got a downside tail to shedding a few pounds?

After loosing 15 kilos I got the same issues - I had to buy a new jacket and pants. Also, I had to buy new t-shirts, formal shirts, pants, a new coat. Everything with a smaller size. However, this was only the beginning)))
As you understand, it is not enough just to eat less for keeping your body in a good shape. You need to do physical exercises. Here, it is crucial to do what you like. Otherwise, you will give up. For instance, I hate jogging, I don't know why, just hate it)) However, I like swimming, riding my bicycle, and playing ice hockey. These things turned out to be a little bit expensive))) Protective gear for ice hockey is not inexpensive, also I have to pay for renting "ice rink" and a coach. Swimming means paying for a swimming pool. Riding bicycle is another story. I bought my last bicycle in Northern Ireland for $1300, I got a good discount by the way. The previous bicycle was stolen(((. Then, I bought a computer, fenders, winter tyres, summer tyres, tubes, a lock and so on. Total expenses are huge. However, it is worth it. It becomes obvious when you look at yourself in the mirror in the morning)))

I'm bloody glad I don't mind jogging.
Your right about lifestyle though. You gota burn it or you'll store it.

Yup. MUCH harder maintaining weight than losing weight. Exercise is critical. Even just 30 minutes a few times a week helps a lot.

After losing 25 kilos & counting I'd say the biggest downside it having to buy an ENTIRE new wardrobe !!!! Not even my old undies fit me anymore :BLAA: :BLAA:
Good effort Dan, was going to rep ya until I had the mental picture of your Shreddies:eek:
Do your lids still fit?

Neil

hi nelly. congrats for your weight loss! keep the jogging up!

as for the helmet, can you buy a cheap ass helmet (that is still ece/dot approved) old models tend to be heavily discounted until you can fork out the money for a decent lid that you like? i know its a waste of money just to buy a helmet that will be tossed away after a few months but at least you can ride in relative safety this way

As for maintaining weight, it is much easier to keep the weight off if you put on muscle vs just doing cardio.
The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn while doing NOTHING. Cardio only burns off your reserves and access. So don't neglect resistance training (be it weights, calisthenics, bands.. it's all good).

I have decided to go this route as I can almost slip my new lid off my head if I tip it and pull it forward from the rear.
It's funny I never like my new lid so I'm quite happy that I have a legit reason to ditch it.

Well yeah.. how about body weight exercises? Push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, lunges.. that's nearly a full body workout right there.

Resistance bands are great too. Minimal investment and can be taking with you anywhere you go. 20 minutes a day 3 times a week can make a world of difference.

+1 the resistance bands seem wimpy when you look at them but they really do make you work.

Played tennis for the first time since my varsity high school days (oh so long ago-3 years lol) and felt soooo out of shape. Glad I did it though, tennis burns so many calories its nuts, and I need to lose some of this college weight I put on ;)
