What to mod first?

Ok it looks like I get some cash back for my taxes and I want to spend it on my bike. I want so many things though its tough to figure where to start! My bike is bone stock (for now). What do you guys think is THE most important thing to mod first? The exhaust? The headlights? Frame sliders? There's just SO MUCH to do to a stock bike!! I plan to make a few road trips into Canada and ride to the west coast so I guess comfort is important, but I want looks and performance to be better too, I got a few bucks to spend and its burning a hole in my pocket!! And i'ts WINTER.... ARGH!! Double ARRRGH!!!

Safety first. Replace the stock horn for a Stebel Air Horn. Might just save your ass.

Frame Sliders....Might just save your bike from unecessary damages.

Your riding gear! Once you have good quality motorcycle boots, pants, jacket, gloves and helmet then start on the bike. Gotta protect the best part of bike(you) first. Then sliders, horn, dual headlight mod, FE, pipes etc.

Simple answer is Pipes Pipes Pipes , loud bikes are safe bikes :thumbup: , not the cheapest mod but ohh the results are sweeet

Get whatever riding gear you might need.

Slides and the headlight mod should go first for the bike.

gear first.. then possibly some luggage.. you need to let us know what you have and it'll be easier to give you ideas. but if your planning trips, luggage for the bike is way better than a backpack. .. how about a corbin seat?? I've seen a few used ones for sale and they are worth every penny...

+1 on the gear...IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT.

After that, hit Biker Dude with a PM and he can hook you up with a harness for the dual headlight mod ($36).

After that the horn.

Then if you're still feeling tricky...and deep in the pocket...get the exhaust.

heated grips, double bubble screen, then pipes, the headlight mod and sliders are really cheap too, o you should do those, but since they are no major investment i think they are n/a here other than to roll them into a larger mod

Ok, here's my $.02

1) Good gear, head to toe (and fingers)
2) Sliders
3) Horn
4) Luggage (I went with the Cortec Soft Trunk and Side bags, Love'm)
5) Exhaust

Headlight mod is a good thing, I haven't done mine yet, but at least I bought the bulb. Always something coming up. But I'm going to try to do it tomorrow.

Get some great gear first - need to be comfortable and safe. Then I would go for the frame sliders, a new wind shield and some nice soft luggage.

New tires? This is the very best performance improvement you can make for the bike
Rider school or track day. These are the best performance improvements you can make on yourself.

The rest is icing on the cake.

For safety make sure to protect yourself first. After you have all the gear get frame sliders and a loud horn. Comfort is also important for safety on a long ride to prevent fatigue. A corbin seat is the way to go. My fz6 came with one and it is comfy . Also the headlight mod which I am going to do soon. Exhaust would add some cool points but if you are going on a lot of long rides then you may want to keep the stocker.

2- New, performance-oriented tires (Pilot Powers, BT-016, Qualifiers, etc..)

Since your main focus will be touring, new pipes are not important and add more noise which is annoying on long trips.

1. Grip puppies or neoprene throttle covers to reduce v i b r a t i o n or often referred as the "Steely Dan" effect.

2. Shoot liquid silicone rubber (Wally World) inside the handlebars to minimize road hum. This is not the same material Pam Anderson uses for her frontal augmentation.

3. Add a Vista Cruise throttle lock - the poor man's cruise control.

4. Get a new aftermarket seat - Either a Corbin or a (Russell Day Long $$)

5. Taller windshield - Double Bubble etc. or California Scientific XXL.

6. GIVI 52 liter - Hard case...the soft luggage is easy to break into if you'r parked in an area with wandering hands.

7. Xena Disk Lock - Locks on the front disc and emits a loud 135 db siren when the bike is moved. Ya want protect your new FZ6 from thiefs and meddling children.
