Seriously though do what you got to do.. but living in fear is kind of like trying to fill a bucket with holes. You can pour all your time into it and still get nowhere.

Just because you get a car that's "slower" and "safer" doesn't mean you won't get hurt in it just the same as a bike. In fact feeling "safer" is more likely to get you hurt. You can't blame machinery for going to fast or doing something stupid.

P.S. You get ever those levers mounted?

The thing is, by having no racetrack around means I d*ck around in the streets to satisfy my stupid urges. I know a car does not offer the same feelings, but at least I will feel safer. Everybody at the club call me a traitor now...I'll be taking my decision in the next few weeks, but it's not easy on me either. I will be keeping my gear and all so if I go crazy without the fz I may return to the scene after some time.

Oh, well there you go. A nice S4 is a great trade. :thumbup:

You are the one making this hard decission, and yes its going to be hard. Any way you can hold it off and just get 4 wheels on top of it. Thats what I would do. If you sell it, you might get what 4G's for it, I would rather take a 4 g load and keep my bike and have the car. Thats how I roll now. Cold days = cager cacoon; hot, warm days = FZ6 all the way...

wait.. are you getting a s3 or s4... those are really nice, but kinda chew up the gas.. the a4 s-line seemed like a good deal for me.. all the great suspension from the s4, as well as the front and rear bumpers, different steering wheel, and a few other things.. only difference is the power, but i could always add a intake, exhaust and chip it if i wanted that kinda of power. but the insurance looks at it like an a4. so i ended up paying less.. but insurance might be different where you are.. sad to see you go man, but i get the whole "safe" thing :thumbup:

Oh, THAT kind of "4-wheeler". Big difference.....

I'm considering getting a roadster (S2000 or something similar) instead of an FJR as a toy to tour with the wife in....there are tons of places to go out here and it makes winter trips more doable, it's safer, more comfortable for her, and still a lot of fun to drive.

But fear can be pretty darn healthy too. It's true that you aren't guaranteed safe in a car. But you ARE 37 times more likely to be killed per mile on a motorcycle compare to a car.

I think it would be a good idea to bail on the FZ6 given what your are describing, GConn. If you feel you must depart motorcycling for safety reasons, it is better just to go cold turkey and sell it. Keeping it around is going to lure you back on it and into trouble. You may choose to come back to it in future years, and the cost to buy back in will really force you to confront these issues so you can make a good decision. I think it's a wise move.
